What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Poor drivers on dry roads causing accidents down here Cant wait for the slew of crashes first real snowfall we get.

 

The good ol’ PK, ha ha. All my SF buddies called them meatlockers. I never had the ‘privilege’ of riding in one and for that, I’m grateful. ART Team K5 Blazers were pretty rad though. Ford F250 crewcabs w/ Reading boxes like this were standard for me.

Funny you mention rollovers too because for about a year and DIRECTLY attributed to SF rolling PKs, our wing commander made it policy that ONLY Team Chiefs could drive. I’d be out on a site busting my ass all day after leaving base and driving for 2 hours in blizzard conditions at 0600 with everybody snoring on the way out only to drive home in those same conditions at 2000 hrs while my crew & SET team snored all the way home. I’m sure you can appreciate how difficult it is to stay awake to drive in a warm truck after busting your ass for 14 hours in -30° ambient while 3-4 guys are sacked out in the cab with you. I wised up after a few trips and said ‘If you all are gonna sleep while I have to drive, my window is coming all the way down and Slayer is getting pegged at level 20 on the stereo.’

 

Completely understand, brother! Not a lot of function gained for $250, that’s for sure.

Currently researching sound deadening for the OEM Audio+ setup that is on order. Never done it before but it looks easy enough. Going to start with the doors and behind the back seats. May do the floors and headliner down the road.

Last thing missing for my faux-Pro is the black TRD wheels. Is there any difference between the actual TRD Pro wheels and the SEMA ones? I see both referenced but unsure the difference

 

Threw on some Alpharex Jet Black tail lights.

 

TRD Pro wheels are 16” and the SEMA ones are 17”.

Did you also get the front runner rack system? I got mine and put the rack on it. Nice to have. Just cannot go thru auto car wash places.

 

Picked up the wheels from powder, did a ceramic coat last night. Sneak peak at the color.

 

Can't wait to see them mounted.

 

Out to lunch on this one but I just painted a chrome tailgate handle and surround for my 17 Tacoma SR
I kept the chrome handle but decided the chrome surround was to much. I then painted it with a red clear coat because I still wanted the chrome coming through. Im thinking about going with Barcelona Red. Should I before I install this? I never cared for the original black ones.
The interior is next. I ordered a Carid aluminum interior kit and am preparing to remove several interior pieces to be painted. I wont use the complete kit because it is over kill but wanted certain pieces. The paints I am using will be silver metallic and graphite on the dash, doors and console.
Appreciate your opinions on the tail gate handle.

 

I vote to paint the tailgate handle and surround Barcelona Red so it will blend in and vanish. This would give a nice smooth look and let the chrome letters provide the focal "pop".
You really have an awesome look going there, about perfect as is.

 

Haven’t gotten the Front Runner bars yet. That might be a spring purchase.

Installed this kit yesterday. So far, I like it, but only time will tell. Also regeared with 4.88’s and had the KD Max tune done. Shaping up nicely!
