My 2021 Tacoma with 11800 miles has a vibration between 40-60mph. You can feel it in the steering wheel as well as on your butt. When you brake you can also feel the vibration and occasionally when you take your foot off the accelerator, you hear a noise from the driveshaft/Transmission. I took my truck to the dealer for service on this issue and they said that other similar Tacomas do the same thing. Nothing was corrected but they have referred this information to Toyota so that eventually if other Tacoma owners complain enough, Toyota will issue a recall once they have figured the proper correction.

I'm creating this thread so other Tacoma owners start and or continue complaining to Toyota.

How long has it been happening? Could be a wheel balance issue.

Not a wheel balance problem. All wheels were checked.

Did they roadforce balance them when they checked them?
I had a similar issue and went through 3 tire shops before finding out my local Toyota dealership had a road force balancer. I had a lift done with tires at a local tire shop right off the lot. At the time my dealer wasn’t doing that type of work. Drove me nuts. Even confirmed my drive line angles and removed my lift to see if that was it. The tire shop insisted it wasn’t the tires and rebalanced them 3 times and eventually said it was the truck. Even after confirming with road force they were out the tires shop didn’t believe me. All but said I was lying. The dealership found the tires were in fact out of balance enough to feel. Fixed my problem.

Yes, my truck is totally stock, no lifts. I’ve thought of going to Discount but I don’t think they have Nitro air.

    Nitrogen is unnecessary anyway.

You probably did already, in case you off roaded...but mud caked inside the rim could mess the balance big time.

Me and the broheim are planning a complete helium fill, not just a top off, and then we're gonna do about 500 miles worth of superbad hypermiling! film at 11?

All i can comment on is my buddies 2019 trd does exactly the same having some minor vibration you can feel. It must be normal for it to happen on those trims. Even his local dealer told him that these trucks will experience some minor vibration issues, and not to worry about.

Not true...nothing wrong with factory rims...easy way out is to say it's normal. Chances are the balance is screwed up...somewhere

FYI- It’s rare, but I have seen new tires that look fine and balance well, but are slightly deformed and cause a vibration on the road.
If all four wheels spin true and don’t ‘hop’ at all on the balancer, you might wanna try the Roadforce balancing like @doc76 suggested.
You could also try rotating the tires to see if the vibration moves or changes.

I have a little bit of vibration like this after mounting a size larger WildPeaks which are notorious for imbalance. The stock setup was totally smooth.

Vibration. My 2006 4WD Tacoma was the worst, and I sold it after 2344 miles. Ordered new, they could never get it out, and was nicely told, live with it.
In 2008, bought my first 4Runner a Checkered Flag Toyota in VA. I lived in FL at the time, airline ticket up, drove it back. No vibration. I put Michelins on it at 544 miles, the stock tires seemed fine.

After this, I purchased 4Runners traded each time : 2012-2013-2015-2018. Each one had slight vibration at different speeds, and most of it taken out by shops that could index each wheel, + road force balancing,
Michelin LTX/MS on first 4, and the Defenders on the '15 and '18.

Nitrogen ? Just a gimmick. Isn't the air we breath is 74% of that ? Get to a shop that knows what they are doing. And, if new tires are to be purchased, tell the tire guy you want to look at the manufacture date on each one. Important.

Note : The info below can be a case of TMI. Good info to know.
An illustration is included at the bottom of this info.

See below for one manufacturers info on tire wheel balance match.

Some basic precautions should be observed when mounting your tires. Always make sure to:

    • Securely seat the wheel to the hub face.
      • Properly torque all lugs.
      • Remove any buildup of dirt between the hub and wheel.
      • Check for bends or cracks in the wheel.
      • Securely seat both tire beads on the rim.
      • Avoid scratching or bending alloy wheels during installation.
When performing uniformity match-mounting, the red mark on the tire, indicating the point of maximum radial force variation, should be aligned with the wheel assembly's point of minimum radial run-out, which is generally indicated by a colored line or a notch somewhere on the wheel assembly (consult manufacturer for details). Radial force variation is the fluctuation in the force that appears in the rotating axis of a tire when a specific load is applied and the tire rotated at a specific speed. It is necessary to minimize radial force variation to ensure trouble-free installation and operation. Not all wheel assemblies indicate the point of minimum radial run-out, rendering uniformity match-mounting sometimes impossible. If the point of minimum radial run-out is not indicated on a wheel assembly, the weight method of match-mounting should be used.

    Heavy or Light Spot Balancing

Heavy or light spot balancing is corrected either statically or dynamically, depending on the type of imbalance.

    • Static Balance is achieved with a static "bubble" balancer but does not correct for dynamic imbalance.
    • Dynamic Balance is achieved with a dynamic "spin" balancer where the tire/wheel assembly is balanced both statically and dynamically.
    Run-Out Balancing
    • Heavy or light spot balancing is corrected either statically or dynamically, depending on the type of imbalance.
    • Run-out balancing is corrected depending on whether it is radial or lateral run-out.

My stock 2021 TRD Sport has 5846 miles as it sits parked and I have not had this issue.

I'll be sure to update this thread (hopefully not because I don't want this to be a problem) if my Sport displays this vibration.

I have a 2021 sr5 4x4 31,000 miles. I feel a consistent pulsating humming/vibration under my feet between 40-55 mph. Took it to Toyota and they said they didn’t find anything wrong with the truck but that my tires are cupping. Does that sound right? Does it sound like the same thing happening with your truck? Any update on your situation?
