    Hello,

I am a long time lurker of the forum. Google searches for part numbers and procedures had brought me here about a year ago. I am the original owner of a silver 2004 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab SR5. It has the 3RZ 2.7L 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual transmission, 4WD, an manual windows and locks. It's been a great little truck performing countless house holder chores, helping friends an family move, getting me through ~17 winters, and being a supremely reliable rig.

The Taco has always been a second or third vehicle. Because of that it has ~70K miles. Toyotas are deceiving as they require so little maintenance and they just keep on going. However I have performed all of the typical filter changes according to the maintenance intervals. The brakes were serviced at ~30K and ~60K I believe. I replaced the headlights last Spring. Being a mid Atlantic east coast vehicle there is rust. The frame was "treated" with a black sticky coating sometime in ~2011. I was not able to convince Toyota that I needed a new frame. I really want to replace the frame myself at some point.

I have been working on the truck for about a week as it is due for maintenance. Plus I am replacing the 17+ year old radiator, hoses, broken washer reservoir, original lower ball joints, exhaust (3rd), and many seized bolts. After winter I plan to diagnose and (hopefully) fix why the windows are getting harder to roll up.

Again I want to thank all of you for the really helpful posts, part numbers, pictures, and suggestions. I am in this for the long haul. I want my Tacoma to last as long as it can. Between the forum, FSM, and YouTube, I am making measurable progress. Thank for reading.

    Jim
