Suggest you make contact with your insurance company. Get them to send an adjuster. Be ready to supply any documents that detail the accident, ie police reports, pictures, witness contacts....... Let your insurance be your advocate.

The "at fault insurance" adjuster is motivated to protect and minimize costs to his employer. In other words, look to a lowball adjustment. You have a better chance of a fair adjustment from your insurance adjuster.

You can get top dollar for your truck, but you’ll have to fight for it a little bit. A friend of mine was an adjuster for a major insurance company and there’s a bit of a game to play. Their insurance company will give you an offer, probably about 80% of its actual worth. Most people just accept it and move forward, not knowing vehicle values or because they just want to get moving with the process and be done with it. If you push back and ask for more, be armed with a kbb or similar value and some comparable postings in the area. They’ll give you another, better offer, still not the top deal, but will close the distance. Stick to your guns if it’s not satisfactory and ask for what you want. Yes, it’s a pain, but you can get top dollar.

As for my experience, I had an old beater accord in high school. Spent some time fixing everything up - tune up, new seals, clutch, stereo, etc only to have someone plow into it while I had it parked in front of a friends house. The initial offer was $600. Following the process in the game, I eventually got $2200 for it. Seeing as I bought it initially for $800, I was pretty pumped. Good luck OP!

Oh trust me, I’m about to fight this thing. No doubt.

Just getting all of my ducks in a row before I bow up.
