Garage Shop: Tools

I started like that many years ago any more I am quite happy if the tool ends up in the correct box let alone the right drawer .

Your shop is 1200' long I would be worn out walking after Tools and Hardware.

 

Haha - now if my last name were Trump, Bezos, Musk, or Gates it may be 1200’ long - but its only 40’ deep. By the end of it, it’ll be 70’ deep by 30’ wide for 40’ of it, then 40’ deep for 30’ of it.

 

So you meant to say 1200 square feet ?

‘OK here is the layout of my tools in the shop. My shop is currently 1200’ and I am expanding it by another 1200’. The expansion just got delivered yesterday, but it will probably be a solid 4-5 months until I erect that. Installing solar first (well waiting on the permit), adding RV parking onto the side and building quite a few retaining walls……..busier now being retired than when I worked!’

Junk drawers aren’t organized….that’s the point….

 

Yes @Drainbung is correct those are the ones I got from Amazon……I’m happy with them, but im not sure how well they would hold up with heavy items in the drawer being slammed around. They give you this “gel” like material to put on the ends to secure them. I think if you used some 3m double sided tape, that would DEFINITELY hold them in place. . Hmmmm why didn’t I think of that until now! Haha

Does anyone have hands-on professional experience with the Tool grid system?

I need better organization in my socket drawer. The trays take up to much room and i have another 45 1/2” sockets in the cases shoved below

 

Same sale price currently at HD. It doesn't slide though and only has single bevel capabilities.

I bought the DWS779 for $399 awhile back. Very pleased with it. Diablo blades are a must though.

Not the Tool Grid System specifically but few years ago I tried out a system thats similar. Grid system with spots for sockets. I didnt overly care for it. Didnt feel like it really saved any room as you were limited on spacing between sockets to being whatever the grid space was. I feel like the system would be great for people with basic sets but not so much for people wanting to cram 100+ socket in a drawer.

Ive honestly gone with the socket trays from harbor freight (that have deep and shallow on one with the sizes) for commonly used sockets and then just socket rails with magnetic bases for everything else.
