I've seen this a few to many times on so many Toyotas. When I had the Tacoma outfitted for overlanding the bed rack was attached at the frame versus the bedsides. I've been fixing up an old Toyota recently and considering selling the overland rack

    Welcome!

Ya seems like a fairly common issue for anyone that wheels in the slightest but I’ve tried to build a rack that bolts into the bed. I’ll have to make a version two sometime soon but we’ll see if it helps with the bed issue I guess time will tell.

I was wondering if the fender was pulled, could a support be welded to the frame and a platform made under the bedside that it rests on. Like two bent tubes welded to the frame and flat bar stock that the bedside sits on? I haven’t taken my own fender off to see what exactly is under there. Just spit ballin ideas

I’m putting this into the ether as I’m having a hard time finding people to do hard-ish wheeling with.

I live in ABQ but go to Utah 6+ times a year to wheel/camp/explore. I’m dying to push my wheeling and love off roading in Moab. I don’t care it’s busy. It’s busy for a reason, because it’s fucking amazing and can’t be emulated anywhere else.

So I’m looking to go do hardish things 6+/10 type routes. Wife and I have done hells revenge, poison spider, and TOTW. She’s getting to be a good spotter but damn, I’d sure love to go with other Tacoma guys and push my truck.

So if anybody is interested in Moab, trails like the trifecta, steel bender, strike ravine, etc. I will drive my ass up there any weekend to do this.

Good booze/food/camping and off-roading like we mean it.

    Anybody? Anybody?

Choke Cherry canyon aka Glade Run recreation area in Farmington is pretty good for seeing exactly what you and your vehicle are made of and a shorter weekend drive. Everything from mild to Holy shit!!! Lol.
Camping as well. Not Moab status for scenery, but if you want to wheel, hard, it'll definitely work. And a quicker fix for the itch.

Can confirm on this, I've got the pinstripes to prove it too! Some of the trails get pretty dang tight.

Haven’t been, so anybody wanna go that’s been, I’m game!

But I have to admit, I am biased to wheeling with scenery though. And I don’t mind driving to get to it. So I’m psyched off road nearby, but when I can I go to Moab or Canyonlands or amazing mountain peaks with spectacular views outside of Breckenridge. Because wheeling is cool. But wheeling in amazing places is way cooler

Most of Choke Cherry has a pretty decent view of the La Platas in the background, and a bit of the senic slickrock that Moab has as well, just on a smaller scale.

    Hey guys
    Weird question:

The exhaust on my 2019 looks rusty but can a NM truck really get rusty this quick?

i’m thinking it might actually be baked on clay. I’ve flung a lot of mud under there in the Zuni’s and Mt Taylor and its red like clay… Think it’s just rust? Writing it out sounds stupid lol

It’s dirt, hit it with the wand at the car wash next time. plus as long as it’s not rusting through surface rust is no problem

It looks like chunky bubbly rust you find in the northeast but i get the feeing its baked on clay mud. I’ll blast it mañana

Most likely the clay. Mine isn't rusted so I'll bet yours is just fine.
