Never done one in a Toyota but that price doesn't sound horrible. I bet if you brought it in just needing that without having the frame job you'd get a higher quote by quite a bit, especially dealer.

My Oldsmobile was almost $800, howbowdah

I thought all 2020 and up Toyota’s have BSM that’s part of the TSS. Interesting

I don’t think Toyota makes vehicles with steel wheels and covers anymore. I had a base Toyota Corolla as a loaner and it had beautiful alloy wheels, the rest of the car was pretty basic.

My understanding is; It’s safer for the environment and less flammable.
And R1234f cost about 5x more last I looked.

I don’t have a problem with it, if it’s better and the A/C system is built well.
The problem will likely be the A/C system components failure, not the refrigerant.

You may be right. It’s been a while since I read about it.
I am thankful my truck doesn’t use it. Plus, I don’t do A/C.
I’ve helped replace compressors and stuff. But I leave the fill/refill and diagnoses to the guys that know more than me.

It's bad enough having to convert an older vehicle from R-12 to R134a; My truck came with R134a, I spent almost $1,600 in 2018 replacing the evaporator core, and I hope that if the A/C ever needs to be serviced again I am not forced to convert it! :luvya:

I surmise it will take a long time to get to that point..then again; with the way our trucks last :)

But seriously, it took a long ass time to truly phase out the R12. It went first that your average bear couldn't buy it over the counter, but shops still had it for many years after and would recharge you with it..or if you knew a HVAC licensed person (at least here) they could purchase the small cans for a long time at the store.

That's not outrageous for a dealer

If you think 400 is a lot you should see some of their other prices

I was just reading an article that said GM had to stop heated seats and steering wheels on many models because of the chip shortage.

Generally that would be a fair price for a indie shop I think

Funny; My mom had a 1990 LE V6. That was considered the most expensive at the time!

My truck is presently at the dealership waiting to be given a new frame; If all goes according to plan, I should have it back in time to go paintballing this Saturday! The service manager has agreed to let me come into the shop and photographically document the process, and I post those photos here over the course of this week!
