My truck is presently at the dealership waiting to be given a new frame; If all goes according to plan, I should have it back in time to go paintballing this Saturday! The service manager has agreed to let me come into the shop and photographically document the process, and I post those photos here over the course of this week!

 

I dropped the truck off on the afternoon of November 15th; I left my sunglasses in the truck and had to go back for them on the morning of November 16th. I found that my truck hadn't even been touched yet...

 

Wait you’re getting a new frame? I had no idea.

Got some pictures of the new frame before they put it under my truck!

 

I hit 5,400 in the loaner Camry right before I left the dealer after retrieving my sunglasses...

 

The rental contract requires me to bring the car back with a full tank of gas; I can't wait to see how much gas this thing actually uses!



As long as the truck is done before I go paintballing in New Jersey this weekend, I'll probably end up putting less than a hundred miles on this car!

 

Just in case some people haven't seen it, this is the hole that led to Toyota approving a frame replacement; It is located on the right frame rail, close to the front of the truck, and practically next to the catalytic converter...

 

I ended up going with the Bilstein 4600s; My mechanic was able to get them expedited through his supplier and I had to pay about a hundred bucks more for this, but in the end I think it will all be worth it!

I have decided to go with the OEM water pump from the dealer; It's marked up a little bit, but it would like be more expensive and take a lot longer to replace if it were to fail after the frame failed. Thanks for everybody's help!

 

No comedians; Just people with everything from muscle cars to Ferraris meeting in suburban shopping center parking lots (and in the case of the one last Sunday, picturesque rural villages) showing off their rides!

 

Picked up my new Bilsteins form my mechanic and left them in the truck...

 

Another thing I find surprising is that my loaner Camry has a push-to-release foot pedal parking brake instead of an electronic one...

No, was not referring to any person in particular. Just sharing words of wisdom/humor I was passed down. Glad to hear the frame replacement is happening early!

 

I'm amazed they can do it in three days!
