Had a similar sound on my 2nd gen. Turned out to be that the nut on the long UCA bolt backed off a turn and had some slap to it as it shifted. Also, check your skid plate bolts are tight. I had a similar pop as the skid shifted a tiny amount in turns and made a pop sound.

Might not be the case, but takes just a minute to check.

Hopefully it's the LCA cam bolts being loose then. They definitely make a very loud and terrible noise. Good to check the torque in everything when you're down there.

Here's my cheat sheet in case it helps, kind of a disaster, but has most of the torque and wrench sizes at least for my truck:

Front end has been mostly replaced. I got in a minor accident earlier this year and had it all fixed because the frame wasn’t bent. That would make sense as to why the lca mounting point is a bit bent. But in theory it shouldn’t matter much with the proper alignment and the bolts being in the right space correct? Because lcas are held in with bushings not flat metal on metal

I didn’t see the rack moving. But all I could see was the lines. Check and make sure the rack bolts are tight.

Maybe the long bolts are loose? Or the bushing are bad?

That’s what I’m thinking. Unless it’s the inside of the rack itself… but it’s pretty new like months old

Time to pull that boot off! At least tie rod components are cheap and you can replace them at home.

I spent some time as a car mechanic. "new" is usually worst than the original because everything is sourced from china.

You have to get the right parts before it can be worse. ;)

I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.
