Hey all!! Hope everyone is well and enjoying the weekend? I’ve been thinking for months now about signing up for “Sling TV”. but I know nobody that has it and all my friends just don’t mind getting raked over the coals every month by paying for their outrageous cable bill but to me that’s money wasted that could be spent on Beer & steaks for the BBQ!! If anyone has Sling than please let me know if it sucks azz or if you like it? Thx all and stay safe!!

I was considering that too but sling is cheaper so that’s why I was leaning this direction but YouTube tv is my 2nd choice. Thx!!

On most devices you can download the sling app and watch what is available for free to play with the interface, etc.

I’ve never liked Slings interface and it’s enough for me not to pay for it. And they have enough purposeful crossover between orange and blue tiers that I really just want a couple extra items of the blue but can’t do that in cost effective way.

I’ve had just about every TV streaming service. DirectTVnow was good when it was still a thing, but prices went way up. Right now I also have YoutubeTV and prefer it to everything else out there.

Don’t even bother with Friendly. Interface sucks and it lags like crazy.

Not a fan of it. Used it for like a year but there issues with the TV app and when watching sports it freezes a lot and it’s not my internet connection. When the scheduled time of a program comes to an end the app freezes and if you’re watching a game you’ll miss the last seconds sometimes. Would not ever use them again.

Trial it out. If you don't like it then just cancel.

Your streaming choice depends on what you want to watch and how much you want to watch.

The Sling model of Blue and Orange always struck me as odd but I guess it works for them.

When our local cable went belly up (good riddance) I tried the free trial of most of them.

I didn't care for Sling at all.

If I wanted to spend a lot to watch TV, I'd go with Youtube TV or Fubo, but there's nothing on TV that's worth $70 a month to me.

We have Philo for $20 a month and it works for us.

Philo drawbacks are that it doesn't carry local channels and it doesn't carry sports (neither are missed).

Other services we also have are Amazon Prime and Curiosity stream ($12 a year)

Since I watch a grand total of about 3 hours of TV a week, this is fine for us.

    I switched from Directv ( $140/mo) to YouTube Tv @ $65/Mo and it’s OK

also added a Firestick to my TV’s and it’s the best decision I ever made. Got the one with voice control

Just got sling & so far it's just meh. Their interface needs work & can be laggy at times.
You can't ff through commercials & they don't have many, so you may see the same one back to back 3-4 times. What irks me the most is, if you miss / didn't hear something in the show you're watching & rewind even a second too far, you're locked into watching those same commercials all over again.

Roku should be on your shopping list of considerations as well.

I've not used Sling, but the few folks I know who have tried it dumped it.

I considered it, but their programming mix between tiers is designed to make folks upgrade for just a couple more specific channels, so I passed.

If you live in an area with OTA options, you might consider that too.
