I haven’t done much with it outside of 50 yards, I really wasn’t expecting to get hits because I did a basic battle zero (it’s my bedside gun) but haven’t sat down and grouped it and really gotten it dialed in.
I was holding the head box expecting 3-5” of drop with the limited velocity, but between the non-magnified optic and grey steel it was difficult to see.
It was really cool to trace the round out to the target shooting at night with the REIN, I knew we could trace pistol rounds with the light but wasn’t expecting to be able to trace it with the rifle round.

 I do that every now and then.

No, but I would imagine it may be from Wal-Mart. So maybe Allen Company brand?

LGS told me about that when I stopped in earlier this week and I'm REALLY having to restrain myself from picking up a 36M and get a free Octane 9. If it was an Omega 9k I'd probably already be in trouble with the wife.

The 9 can be run on an AR9 platform I assume?

With the correct adapter. The Octane series has adapters for fixed barrels or Nielsen device adapter for free-float barrels. I have an Octane 45 that I run on my G19 and an AR9.

I ordered a Rex Silentium 8 baffle .30 cal can last night for $480 shipped. Was set on a Sandman or Nomad but couldn’t beat the Rex price! Cheapest I found the Sandman was $680 and it sold out basically immediately.

Someone explain LRBHO (Last Round Bolt Hold Open) to me as it pertains to the AR9 platform. I'm seeing both upper and lower receivers advertised as LRBHO or non-LRBHO.

Is that controlled by the upper, lower, or both? If I decide to build/buy one, I'd like the LRBHO option. Do I need to get both LRBHO upper and lower, or does either/or work?

    Please and thank you.

Not an expert on them but it's generally part of the design. Also you should only need either the upper or lower.

But a lot comes down to whose receivers you are making and what mags.

I want to say (double check) colts and Uzi mags the lower was commonly used and Glock mags it's the upper

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
On a normal AR-15 the bolt catch is actuated by the follower at the rear of the magazine, on an AR-9 the magazine sits too far forward in the receiver for the bolt catch to be engaged this way. Some manufacturers and consumers have decided that trying to find a fix for this is more trouble than it's worth or the fixes create unnecessary complexity and have opted to accept losing the LRBHO feature.

For the manufacturers that have implemented so type of LRBHO mechanism it has been mostly a proprietary thing with each manufacturer coming up with their own solution. Some manufacturers have added a transfer bar to the upper that is built into the left side of the upper and rotates out against the top of the bolt catch. Others have milled out a groove in the lower to slide in a bar runs back and pushes up on the part of the bolt catch that is normally acted upon by the AR-15 magazine follower.

Long story short when shopping for AR-9 receivers, especially if LRBHO is desired, it's best to pick a manufacturer you like and buy the receivers as a set to ensure they are compatible. AR-15 parts are very interchangeable because they are pretty much all based around the mil specs but once you get into the derivatives you start running into more variations in design and issues with fitment from brand to brand.

Thanks for that. I've been looking mostly at the PSA (non-lrbho) and Foxtrot Mike (LRBHO) lowers. It seems that all of the PSA and FM uppers have handguards that are longer than the barrel. I like the look of them, but the handguards do not have a large enough opening (about 1.3") to allow for a can on the end (in my case, the YHM R9 (about 1.56")). If I get one, It seems that PSA has more configurations available and has sales more regularly.

This FM lower (https://www.primaryarms.com/foxtrot...e-fm9-premium-9mm-lower-receiver-fm9-lwr-prer) was $215 yesterday (CyberMonday) and I've seen it that price several times before. I'd prefer something in the 4-5" barrel range since it'll likely have another ~5.5" on the end of the barrel, but this is looking like my best pre-built option for the upper (https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa...e-7-lightweight-m-lok-upper-with-bcg-ch2.html). The barrel is 8" and with the can, is getting into rifle overall length. So either I keep looking or I buy a pre-built and replace the handguard. But I'm not even sure if that upper would work with that lower and allow for LRBHO.
