There are definitely places closed to you. If you were to have an issue, you’d need to bring the truck to them to fix. Its a great deal for those who live in So-Cal or somewhere relatively near.

That might make your trip a pain in the ass with the break in procedure. Or not but with gas prices I don't know if you would be saving any thing. Only you can decide. See if Randy's will try and price match.

You can also do rem polishing and kill the break-in cycles. I can help you out if you want to make the trip!

2 of us are still waiting on the REM polishing. Luckily we're not worried about the time being pushed though.

BOOM! 5.29s installed yesterday with an added ARB front locker.

Absolutely a different truck. This is how the Tacoma should ship from the factory.

I'd like to thank Premier West for unlocking 5th and 6th gear on the Taco! They are now fully in play for highway driving and both of these overdrive gears actually PULL at highway speeds. Amazing!

I went with the REM polishing, so only had to do two 15 minute heat/cool cycles on the way home.

Also, while they are in there, have them get replace your needle bearings with the ECG bushing. It's only like $60 while they're already in there.

Premier West Gear was great. It's in a sort of run down little mechanic strip center, but they've really done a great job remodeling their spot. I drove from San Diego and sat in the lobby working while sipping on a cup of joe from their Keurig. Thanks Premier West Gear!!

Has anybody on Tw had issues with their installs?

I’m getting stories from some hack installs that have been back twice to premier. I’m hearing this from my cousin and a good friend from a Toyota dealership.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
I've been back twice after regearing. Once for broken teeth on the ring gear (new install) and once for a diff leak (after hitting a rock).

First return visit, they honored the 1yr warranty that comes with all their work. I did buy the 10yr warranty when I picked it up after the ring gear was replaced since the 1yr would run out soon after.

Second visit, they resealed the diff and did a fluid change on the front for a song. Very happy.

I have no worries if something goes wrong, they'll take care of it. The numbers they do, and the types of trucks/people they serve, bound to have some boomerang stories. Part of doing business. Not saying it's acceptable, but shit happens and how we handle it afterwards is the important part.

Both visits, the truck was in and out same-day. Hope this is all I have to contribute because the truck has seen some hard use and no issues....yet.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with them in any way besides finding them through TW and using their services as a paying customer.

Well just finishing up my break in. Another 40 miles or so tonight. I spent most of my 500 miles trying to diagnose a horrible vibration at 50-65 give or take. I didn’t see past 65 due to break in. I did not have the vibration before the regear. Revisitied driveline angles, now if I’m being honest they’re not perfect but I didn’t have any vibrations that I noticed beforehand. I played around with the carrier bearing and its position with spacers or not, checking u joints, balancing/rotating tires.

I called premier and they said well the driveshafts spinning faster and it’s not balanced at the speed it’s spinning. Not to worry until after break in. I didn’t buy that. I would of had similar vibrations at a higher MPH/RPM before the regear if that was the case.

Pulled the rear drive shaft today and the vibe was gone. So for the heck of it I rotated the pinion flange 180° and my vibe was gone. There is slight vibes still but that’s due to some less than perfect angles that I will revisit when I redo my sua.

Just a heads up to anybody who gets their truck back and have a horrible driveline vibration, doesn’t seem like they noted how the driveshaft was oriented to the pinion flange.
