You just attach the small flat extension so it sticks out the the right of the tensioner and then attach the long part to that and flex away!

Simple basic tool that works.

 

I’ve broken three of those harbor freight units now. Never again. That Gear Wrench tool was worth it for me.

That looks like a nice set and not a bad price and if you've broken three of the harbor ones then that's garbage. I've been lucky with mine so far at least.

 

You just have to break the HF ones in the first 90 days and it's like the 1st gen owners who love the "lifetime warranty" parts store CV axles… Break it, swap it out… repeat.

 

first time i used a breaker bar but the last time when i had to swap that's what i used and based on feedback you can swap the belt using the gearwrench one from the side. I second this! I picked it up based on your feedback too @12TRDTacoma

 

The gear wrench one is similar to this. I forget if it angles but its pretty rad.

That style tool is what the professionals in shops use for the tensioners that are located in tight confines. It's perfect for our style application and the guys using them should run into no problems using them.

 

Anyone have a persistent issue with the fuel filter leaking?

 

Which fuel filter? The hose or the filter itself.

 

Might be from the hose on the upstream side.

 

But this is the second time in as many years. Previous filter was the URD/NAPA filter and now it's the K&N filter. Cut some of the hose too when installing the K&N filter to have a fresh connection. Maybe the worm clamp needs to be re-tightened but this is nonetheless worrying.

I need to do something different because the status quo isn't working.

 

I was wrong. Leak was on the downstream side. Tightened the worm clamps and the leak disappeared. Assuming I need to find a better way to secure the fuel filter from moving around. It's just secured to another line with zip ties.

 

People still run those?
