I bought a GM Gentex 177 mirror at a salvage yard to install on my 2nd gen Tacoma. I have installed it, and it seems to work fine.

But I want to defeat the auto dimming feature when I put it into reverse. There is a light green wire on the mirror harness that controls this.

I need to know the color of the wire near the fuse box that is active when I shift into reverse. It's a manual 6 speed. I figure that would be the easiest place to tie into.

Odd. I found the solution on Tacoma World after searching with Google, and didn't find it with TW's search engine.

The solution is the Red-White wire as shown in the picture. The wire is @12v when I shift into reverse (manual transmission), and is 0.00 volts when taken out of reverse.

I ALWAYS start with Google, which generally brings me back to TW. My experience is: the TW search engine is not very intuitive or user friendly.
