First my truck. The suspension consists of King coil overs with reservoirs in the front and Dever leaf springs with King reservoir shocks in the rear. I recently installed Dirt King upper and lower ball joint control arms.
Now the problem. Shortly after the installation of the upper and lower control arms I started noticing a clunk clunk clunk whenever I take off from a stopped posistion. I retorqued the control arms. I've checked the cv axles and they seem to be fine. I replaced all ujoints front and rear. I checked to see if the front diff was loose as it has 1" pucks under the mounting arms and they were tight. The clunking doesnt happen while I'm underway only when leaving from a start. I was wondering if maybe the axles need to be lengthened but I'm only at 2 1/2" of lift. If anybody has any ideas, please let me know.

Question about the noise: does the “clunk clunk clunk” sound like it matches the speed of your tires rotating, or is it more like something rattling/banging against each other like something is loose? Would help us to know if related to rotation of driveline or the suspension/chassis.

Did you check your body and radiator mounts? Long shot but easy to look and see.

Anything else you can say or guess about where the sound is coming from?

Edit: Was reading another unrelated thread and had idea. Check your motor mounts too.

The clunk sounds more like a rotational noise and only makes about 3-4 clunks and only when I take off from a stop. If I take off very slowly theres no clunk. Also I noticed that it doesn't clunk in four wheel drive.

I read a post that it could be a torsion bar link. Thats something I havent investigated.

If rotational, check your brake backing shields to see if they were bumped/bent and hitting something. Check your caliper bolts. Assuming you removed CV axles when doing UCA/LCA check to make sure everything is properly seated and torqued including axle nuts.

Tacomas don’t have torsion springs in this suspension. Maybe you mean sway bar links? If so check that but if it matches speed/rotation probably isn’t that.
