Looking to install the Uni mod on my '14 Tacoma with 82K miles. Not sure if the original filter has been changed, but the damage it could do is freaking me out. I've never owned a Tacoma before, but this mod seems super simple.

Question… Has anyone had/know of any long-term issues with the mod?

I've had it for a while, no problems, never heard of any.

It’s a filter replacement for the secondary air pump. Apparently, the foam filters Toyota put into them will eventually dry rot and pieces get sucked into the system causing fairly expensive repairs. I came across the “uni mod“ on YouTube.

Shouldn't cause any issues although I would recommend leaving the top cover on, I did mine about a year ago and it's been fine it just makes the air pump sound a bit louder when it's running.

Basically you remove the stock foam filter that is prone to deterioration from the secondary air injection pump and put a Uni breather filter in place of the air inlet cap.
