Quick question here I have been doing a lot of suspension work lately. I originally did the bilstein 5100 with stock coils and had them at the 5th setting, I am also running 285/75/16 tires. Im not sure the exact height on the lift but it seemed to give me around 2" to 2.5".

I just installed new freedom offroad upper control arms and OME 885 coils with the bisltein circlip adjusted to the lowest setting at 0, because that is what the taco community said. Although, when I finished the truck seemed lower than it was before even with the 2" OME 885's? I also encountered some new tire rubbing when before with the stock coils at setting 5 with the bilsteins I had no tire rub. I bought some Toytec 1/2-3/4 aluminum finish spacers to give me that height back and save the Bilstein from preloading. The toytec website says to not use with adjustable shocks otherwise it may cause damage but I am running the bisltein at the lowest setting so it should be fine right? Am I going to run into problems with his setup? What are your thoughts?

I have more or less the same on my truck. 2885 w/ nitrochargers and a 1/4" spacer(previous owner installed the suspension)and I don't have any issues with it, but this is my first truck and I've only had it a year.

From what I've read around here you don't want to throw too big of a spacer because you'll end up bottoming out your shocks before it hits the bump stop.

I'd rather preload the 885's by going up 1 clip, than run a spacer. Best way would be to sell the 885's and move up to the next higher spring.

Regarding rubbing, the new UCA could have moved the wheel back closer to the cab. Can adjust the lower control arms to move the wheel forward, away from the cab.

I've heard similar by other people on here who have had the same shock and coil setup but put the circlip on the bilstein on the second setting at 0.85" and preloading the shock. THisis where I am curious though, I wonder if I get the same kind of preload using a top plate spacer rather than putting the coil on a higher setting. Common sense tells me that yes it will preload the shock but I don't know for sure.

I had trouble finding 887's and up. Not sure where to buy them from, but I read that it is kind of a big no no to put the 885s on anything other than setting 0. That's why I figured using the spacers would come in handy. But it probably has the same effect right? Am I just being stupid? haha This is where my limited knowledge of suspension ends. I don't want to sacrifice too much of the comfort and effectiveness of the suspension offroad but I also need the clearance for the tires.
