I bought my truck for fishing, so I am often wearing tall muck boots or waders while driving the beaches or even changing fishing locations. When I go to release the clutch peddle, the boots (even the boots on my boot foot waders) will grab the hood release and release the hood. Has anyone noticed this issue? Its probably very specific to me, but I cant be the only person on here who wears taller boots often and drives a manual Tacoma with this issue.

Canopy, fitted seat covers, OBA with self leveling air bags, 100w solar, dual Rhino Rack Pioneer platforms, side & rear LED work/FU lights, CB, cell booster. 7x16 cargo conversion, 3" lift, 7'x6.5' fold down aluminum rear deck.
Never had that issue. I assume it is the top lip of the boot that catches. One option would be to make a spring loaded flap that attaches to the back of the hood release and covers the edge of the release. That way, you open the cover, open the hood, then the cover springs back in place. While also preventing unintentional opening.

I’ve never been successful at moving my truck with ski boots on, but I’m able to get it mostly right with waders and boots. Haven’t ever accidentally hooked the hood release but I’ve balled it up getting in and out plenty with the brake controller down there

What kind of wading boots are ya wearing? I’ve never had any issues and I feel like I drive in my boots/waders pretty frequently

Yes, it it is the top of the boot that grabs hood release. I'll look into creating a spring loaded flap. Im sure I can convince one of my friends who have 3D printers to play around and create something nice that could work. Good idea!!

For waders I'm wearing L.L. Beans boot foot, due to their amazing return policy. Even the boot foot Sims I had, didn't last more than 2 years before small friction spots bore holes through the material. If I'm wearing boots, Xtra-Tuf 12" insulated

That’s wild they can grab that latch. I wear bogs, extra tuffs, wading boots, or skit boots all the time in my truck and I have never grabbed the latch by accident.

Did you ever end up putting in that common seat riser? Mine is stock, and I'm wondering if that could also be an easy fix. It might give even more of an angle to grab with too...

I never had that problem. I did hit the TPMS reset button a few times. Zip-tied that out of the way the 1st week I had the truck. I believe they changed the button location on later years.

No I’ve never really had an issue with my seating position in the truck personally. I’m 6’3 with a 36in inseam so I sit a decent ways back even with the 3rd pedal though so that might play into it
