Hey everyone, new to the forum but I’ve owned 3 Tacoma’s prior and first time owning a 4x4 Tacoma. I just bought this 2002 5speed truck a couple months ago and while driving on a paved road my wheel decided to come out of the ball joints (luckily it happened 50’ from the freeway entrance). I have major doubts about the truck now so I’m looking for lift options that would replace the UCA and LCA, and perhaps the cv axle and steering stem rods. I only found one option so far online (total chaos lift). I was hoping to get more insight and possibly more options for a sturdy and proper lift

Well, I mean if you've had many Tacoma's before then you already know about the options that exist.

    I'll summarize:

Non-serviceable shocks include Bilstein 5100s, OME Nitrochargers

Serviceable shocks include any 2.0 IFP models such as Dobinsons, Fox, Icon as well as 2.5 models from ADS, Icon, King, and a few more.

No need to swap out the LCA's unless yours is damaged. If it is, go with an OEM variant (even used...just replace the bushings).

Uppers you can go aftermarket such as SPC, Icon, Total Chaos, Camburg.

But if I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like you're going long travel.

If so, it'll require a bit of custom work such as welding on your shock towers, welding limit straps, etc.

Tons and 4dz.... that will replace the UCA, LCA, sh1tty BJ, CV axle, Rack and everything else in between....

You wouldn't have to worry about tucking your tire no more :anonymous:

The simpler and cheaper option would be to just change the lower ball joints at the recommended interval with OEM Toyota replacements.

So the lower ball joint failed first I bet. I swear Toyota should make more of an effort to ensure all 1st gens get new LBJ's. How many wheels have to fall off?
