    Hello TW. I just replaced my LCA bushings on my '03 Xtra-Cab V6 4WD (Non TRD) Taco, less than a month ago. Everything felt great for the first 2 weeks or so afterwards, then I started noticing an occasional clunking noise right as the truck would come to a stop. My brand new LCA bushings look trashed (see pic below). Has anyone else had issues with Moog LCA bushings wearing out quickly? I'm really not looking forward to replacing these again, but when I do is there an alternative brand I should look for? I believe Moog were the only rubber (I don't think I need poly bushings) bushings available on Rock Auto. Can you get Toyota OEM bushings without paying $250 for all new LCAs (that come with the new bushings in them?1122211717.jpg

    Moog and most all the aftermarket brands are garbage. You can order just the bushings from Toyota. I think they were around $50 each when I did mine. Seems kinda spendy but the lasted 20 years and 300k miles. Not a job I would want to do on a regular basis.

    I daily my truck, but also want to use it for hunting (light offroading). So poly bushings (and all their squeaking) don't sound like the route I want to go. I'm thinking I'll call Toyota tomorrow and get 4 OEM bushings. Thanks for the advice fellas.

    Those don't look like OEM cams either.

    upload_2021-11-22_17-4-50.jpg

    48654E = 48061-35040 x2
    48654F = 48061-35050 x2

    Cams:
    48452-35020 Eccentric
    48409-35050

    Those are a little tricky to find in the parts diagrams. They are spec'd in the Frame parts, but not listed in the diagram. Might want to call a dealer and double check them.

    upload_2021-11-22_17-23-40.jpg

    it might be that the 35050 is both the bolt, and adjusting cam, and the eccentric is the inner lobe, but you need all three of those, and there are only two part numbers listed online.

    Leaf spring squeak is much more intense than any properly lubed poly bushings

    You're right, they're not. My stock cams got stripped (I over ugga duggad them lol), so had to end up buying replacements. And Toyota wanted $150 for a set of 2 cams, which I scoffed at. Hoping these cams don't teach me the same lesson the Moog bushings did [opt for OEM whenever possible].

    I’d go OEM if you can, I got the whiteline bushes and, while anecdotal, my experience has been, eh. Squeaky.

    I even drilled and tapped for zerk fittings, still squeaks.

    I wish I had @Andy01DblCabTacoma ’s luck :rofl:

    Even for moog those should've lasted longer than that... did you make sure to torque the cam bolts after the truck was supported by its own weight?

    If you torque the LCA bolts down while the truck is still in the air it puts way way too much torsional force on them when the tires are on the ground and they'll shred. Same will happen to the OEM rubber ones

    I think I torqued them while the truck was still in the air. That explains a lot. Damn.

    Ok, so in conclusion, I'm going to go with OEM rubber bushings and not torque the cams until the truck is back on the ground. Thanks for the info

    Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
    yea these bushings can tear within a few hundred miles if torqued with the suspension unsupported.

    If you're going for oem without wanting to shell out the bucks, the whiteline brand have been proven to last

    It's an honest mistake, at least you didn't do it to a set of OEM ones :laughing:

    Yeah rubber bushings should always be torqued with the vehicle on the ground, supporting it's own weight. Doesn't apply to poly bushings though, in case you end up going with those next

    Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
    All I can say with the Radio on I never hear any Squeaks with all the bushings being homemade Poly bushings

    Sorry to burst your bubble on the Moog cam bolts: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...lem-solver-caster-camber-cam-bolt-kit.317057/

    I got about 3 years out of mine before the eccentric hole was stripped out and couldn't hold alignment. Fortunately I saved my OEM bolts and they went back in when I replaced the LCA at the same time.
