Long time, haven't been on. I sold my 07 ACLB in 2018 (stupid!) When I thought the motor went to crap. Truck went from getting 20mpg average, to going thru half a tank on a 44 mile segment of my commute. I computed it to be getting about 4.5-5MPG! I regret selling it and still do, especially after the trouble I've gone thru with a 95 explorer (mechanic lied, said blown head gasket, there was none), and now with my 1993 F150 that I've put a LOT of work into.

Needless to say, I've had the Taco bug and am putting my foot down. I am currently getting life in order and would like to purchase one in the hopefully near future.

I love to camp and overlanding sounds like a hell of a good time. Question is, DCLB or DCSB? I want an OR, hands down. How limited would I be with a short bed when it comes to doing truck stuff like hauling?

Current rig is a 1993 F150 RCLB, pic shown

If you want a DC long bed Off Road, you'll be buying a 3rd gen. Be prepared for the insanity pricing that is the car market right now.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Used prices are insane. It was 7K cheaper for me to buy a new truck than to buy a 2 year old one with 40k miles (I did not try and negotiate on the used ones due to asking price).

Once you narrow down what you want, expand your search outside of So Cal as far as you can. Prices can be variable.

Definitely check out whatever you find, more and more flood cars are finding their way into the used market.

Use this site to confirm what you find:

    Good luck. Welcome back.

For a moment I thought maybe you had decided to drop a 350 into your Tacoma when I read the opening. Releaved to see that was not the case.

Yep, a flight and an over 2000 mile drive home for me. But, other than the finance person Peterson Toyota in Boise, ID was great to deal with and I would buyfrom them again.

My ford RCLB F150 was the best "truck" I've ever owned.

That said it sucked at being a "car" lol.

Bishop, I agree on that with my RCLB F150.

No longer in SoCal, now in beautiful eastern Oregon

You can haul 4x8 sheets if you use the slots in the bed, then the hitch extender allows for long items too, you would be surprised what you can do with the short bed.
