My lovely wife has backed the last two of my trucks (Technically truck & suv) into things. First was my ‘15 GMC into a tree…I cut the tree down second was my ‘19 Yukon into the garage door as it was opening…repair the door and Yukon. Now she has driven my Tacoma 3 times in the last year of ownership.
I don’t say much I’m just building points to when I really screw up. Lol accidents happen to us all.

She stilled dinged the truck. Yes I'm going to give her shit about it. Yes she is paying for the taillight but guess who's going to have to pay to get the dent out??? I think I'll just put a band-aid on it for now.

I would suggest keeping your eyes open on local marketplaces and on here. OEM sets in good condition pop up from time to time for a good price and are always better quality IMO.

I have a sure fire method for you to avoid doing work on her truck. Its a multi-step process, but it works.

    1. Be sympathetic about the accident.
    2. Offer to handle the repairs
    3. Pretty sure she will agree.
    Now, the stage is set.

    4. Find a taillight that fits, but does not match the other side
    5. Get one of those Band-Aide stickers to place on the dent. Or a sticker that says "Opps"
    6. Just tell her the repair is complete.
    The Final Act

    7. She will inspect the repair.
    8. You will either have silence for a few days or a lot of extra noise for a few days

    9. When the tsunami subsides. You will never need to repair her truck again.

    Good Luck
Tip: You may consider sleeping with 1 eye open.
