You could probably hold off on the 5.29s for awhile. Unless you’re adding a bunch of weight and 35” tires, they really aren’t that necessary. Especially with a $1500 price tag and probably just as much to have them installed if you don’t want to do it yourself.

You may have better luck with an OV tune. it’s a helluva lot cheaper and you will definitely get some benefit out of it. I moved from Denver to the mountains and thought the engine was horrible. Granted I had already thrown on roof rack, bed rack, RTT, decked, and 33” tires, after I got an OV 91 octane performance tune, it was back to its preppy self. Now I have 35” K02s and but more weight and it’s still pretty peppy.

Which phone mount did you order? And how are you hiding the cable?

I kept it simple with a Scosche magnetic mount and I plan on routing the cables behind the dash. I bought a right angle USB to straight USB C and I'll just plug in the USB then pull apart the dash and see where I need to trim in order to run the cable discreetly. All I need is a little excess around the top where the mount is to make plugging in and out easier.

I almost went with a full on setup with that requires drilling in the dash (since I plan on cutting small portions away anyways) and looks "factory" but I just don't need all that. I found one that does offer a USB hub up top and all you'd do is tap into the Cig lighter wires.
I dunno, having done all this so many times with multiple vehicles, I just want to keep it simple this time but I'd like to still hide the cables.

When the wiring kit for my dashcam comes in the phone mount and USB cables will be here also, so I'll make a day of it and share some pics.
I did manage to get the interior LED's installed. What a huge difference. Also got the license plate bulbs replaced with LED's too.
I also ordered a set of Amber DD SS3 fogs (sport - non backlit) and amber SSC2 ditch lights. They will go on the same time the lightbar goes into the bumper. Should make night driving here in MT much easier. I also plan on getting some reverse lights for the rear bumper, some under hood LED's and some bed lighting too. The last three are not a priority for me though.

None. I use the 3 press method the truck came with. Would be nice to at least have a physical button for it though.

    Thanks. Okay, inquiring minds:
How long after order did you receive the grab handle? Include all the parts? Was it a PIA to get bolts/screw in blind holes as reported? Color match well (negative reports on that as well)?

Glad the tail lights have passed muster. I put the same ones on recently. Yes, very OEM. I'll live w/ the small chrome on the LED headlights

I think I am going to do the same thing. The orange reflectors bug me a little though. I got some TRD vinyls but it's too cold to apply them. I have a heat gun but I'm just going to wait. Honestly, the only reason I got them is because they were cheap so I figured why not. If I don't like it, they come off. This is the first vehicle where badges and stickers actually don't bother me. I even added the black inlays to the tailgate TACOMA logo. Every other vehicle I have owned I debadged and removed any stickers. Kind of like the contrast they give the metallic grey color. But I just didn't like the tail light chrome. It was too much.

When you get your setup, post it up and place your build in your sig so I can follow. Seems we similar interests.

Agreed. The badging works for me. One of the first things my wife suggested "get those black letters for the tailgate" (along w/ doing something about "the old man" acceleration). I went w/ the black and red theme, changing out the side decal for black (textured) and red version (TRD Pro shift knob swapped in, TRD wheels - love those and they are light). ... which led me to the TRD pro style but TRD "off road" 3d badge. I have tire envy re: your rig :) (and the grab handle, concerned to pull the trigger on that). Mine's not whizzbang enough for it's own thread. After going 2001 TRD OR Tacoma, then 2011 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x, I love being back in a Taco.... Best mod, hands down for me so far, is the sprint booster (sport 9 setting).

I had a pedal commander for my previous Subaru Crosstrek and it was a game changer. That CVT transmission was terrible. Add to it that I lifted it and put bigger rims/tires on it. There is no other option like gearing or anything for those cars. I knew I wasn't going to make it past 3 years driving that car. Stock even it was just too eco friendly tuned for me. I plan on getting the KDMax Pro tune in the Tacoma after the 5.29's go in. I can already feel the sluggishness after the lift, rims and tires. If I was you, I'd keep that rim/tire combo as close to stock as possible. Hell, if I could go back I would have gone with the TRD lift that comes on the new pro's and just gone 275/70R17 (or whatever size the pro rims are). I just had to go overboard... I do love it though but it's certainly a rougher ride. We'll see how it ages. Definitely don't go wide on the tires. It pretty much makes the mud guards useless. My Predator steps catch all kinds of road debris and they are basically useless after a 90 mile trip to town in the winter.

TBH, I think yours looks great. Some more aggressive tires would look great too but that's about as far as I'd go. It's pretty obvious you are smarter than me with your money, lol. I also really like that bumper guard. I'm on the fence about bumpers. I really just want something to protect the radiator from deer. Does that thing throw your sensor for a loop? Really digging that camper shell too. And lastly, I envy your leather ;) I'll have to go the clazzio route and that is not something I am looking forward to, but they really are quality covers. That was the one compromise I made on this truck. I could have waited 3-6 months on one with leather and a moon roof but I just wanted out of that Subaru. 7 months in that thing was enough for me. The only thing positive I can say about it was the AWD system and that it was the best option for the price range when I got it.

Oh, and about the grab handle. It's a risk. I took it and I think I got lucky. It was a PITA to get in there and the colors did match, but again I think I just got lucky. I used an impact and forced the bolts in. I don't plan on ever removing it, plus, I saw all the how to's on how not to mess up the threads after I installed it, lol. That's just how I roll...
