I’ve been working on the ECGS busing install, drove it in to .25” from flush (this is what I heard was required and could not for the life of me get it in any further). I now can’t get the cv axle in drivers side back in. Already messed up the threads on my oem axle from hammering too hard? And am trying to install a Napa lifetime warranty axle, it won’t go in either. I’ve installed cv’s before so I’m wondering if the .25” from flush on the ECGS bearing is preventing full seating of the axle but thought it should be just fine as is

    thanks everyone in advance!DDA6DB29-8E8C-4704-B7A6-F2257FE85AF1.jpg

This is as far as I’ve gotten cv to go in, but I can always pull it out without feeling the resistance of the circlip/lock ring

And goes in just a little further when dry fitting without the lock ring

There's always going to be a little space between the axle and the diff/axle tube. They don't mate up completely. How does it compare to the other side? I'm out of town so I can't go take a pic of mine on my truck.

Also when hammering in the axle, thread the axle nut onto the end so the hammer doesn't mess up the threads.

This is a normal amount of space to have

I'm wondering too like @Black DOG Lila if your dust shield is backwards

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Shield is on correctly, that is the proper depth for a fully seated CV. You can try bending the circlip back out some to get some bite on it but it is at full depth. The shield should seat within the differential lip just slightly, read as less than 1/16”.

I got my ECGS bushing to go in flush. CV went in with a little fight but no mangled parts.

See in his photo how the dust shield sits inside differential housing just slightly. I would not use a hammer anymore and instead take your inside hand to wiggle the inner CV joint to see if you can get the dust shield to settle inside the diff housing. It seems like the CV is resting at the bottom and not centered due to gravity.

Old thread, I know. I'm having the same issue, but when I was messing around with the cv, the dust shield literally broke free from the cv itself, so now it spins freely, and slides around. It bangs around and sounds identical to having rocks in my tires, but it's the dust shield. Can the sheild be replaced/re connected, or do I need new cvs? Thank you guys
