I purchased my 2010 Tacoma manual 2.7 4x4 in 2015 with 27k miles on it and now I have 101k miles as of today it has been 100 percent rock solid It even seems to run better the only part I have replaced is the battery my only concern is I want Toyota to bring back the regular cab.

Never gonna happen. Sales #s say it’s not needed unfortunately.

That makes little sense Toyota has sold everyone they have ever built. I doubt you would find one on a dealer's lot today if Toyota still made them.

Toyota should have put the V6 in the regular cab if they had trouble moving them.

Sweet looking truck! I always liked the regular cab / short box 4x4 look. With the 4 cylinder / 5 speed manuals, they were a blast to drive too. Unfortunately, poor sales numbers doomed it.

Makes total sense. There’s a reason they don’t make them anymore. All about the numbers.

Toyota, and every other major car manufacturer has sold every vehicle they've ever built (or kept a select few for research, internal use, or display). When they sit on the lots the dealers get upset over paying for the floor plan and demand incentives from the manufacturers. In turn, the manufacturers don't like it when their customers (the dealers) get cranky. The marketing teams and bean counters for every manufacturer decide what makes financial sense to produce. Despite the fact that you and a few others want regular cabs, it doesn't make financial sense for Toyota to do it. There's plenty of things I'd like to see in modern vehicles that I can't have because I'm the odd one out- just like you are with regular cab pickup trucks, unfortunately.

True, but that has since changed in the past couple of years. Dealers have plenty of room for inventory, counting the units they have coming in.

I think the problem with the 2nd gen regular cab not selling was the price.

How much is the public going to pay for a 4cyl midsize truck with 2drs?

Always had a soft spot for a 6 lug reg cab 4x4... they are a proper lil truck.

Part of it was sales buuut most was due to two things, EPA and safety standards, both of which were based on wheelbase. Unfortunately a regular cab truck put the taco in a wheelbase group that needed to meet passenger car like mpgs (not going to happen with the aerodynamic brick that is a taco) and also meet safety standards of said group (hard to make a taller short wheel base truck handle like a low slung passenger car).

I guess my next Tacoma will be the access cab , I will try to find one with V6 and manual transmission but for now I'm going to enjoy my truck as long as it lasts.
Thank You all for your comments

That’s a darn clean truck! I miss my 97’ regular cab 5 speed it was nice and simple. I’m sure it’s still running

What wheels and tires are those? Do you have a lift at all?

Sweet looking truck. Since they never built a 3rd gen regular cab, it has to be a converted 2nd gen truck. I'll bet that cost a fortune to build!

    Oh look, another mod....

It has to be a 2nd gen, if you zoom in on the pictures, you can see a OEM drivers side grab handle. Those aren't on 3rd gen's.

Definitely a conversion, you can see he switched from 2nd to 3rd Gen doors as well.
