    Do you have one Mike?
Now maybe a .308 Norma Magnum would interest me, you don't ever hear that caliber mentioned.

    Did someone say 30-06?

But the best shoulder buster is the Russian 7.62X54r. When I was shooting competition Vintage Sniper matches we'd shoot 150 rounds in a morning. That will leave a mark. This one is a 1943 Tula Mosin Nagant Sniper

Turkey was out of the brine, injected, rubbed and in the smoker by 7am. Put the ham I cooked yesterday in there to get a second session of Smoke Boost then wrap up and bring up to 130 degrees. After the Smoke B20211125_070722.jpg oost I plan on cooking the turkey at 350 degrees for close to 4 hours.

    That’s a lot of work.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Friends and Happy Thanksgiving to all! We got about 1/2" of rain and a lot of wind to welcome the day! Perfect weather for football and feast! As always, I can count on the Lions being a second turkey..... Always smoke the bird, third year in a row with a different cooker! What temp to use?.....
Stay warm, and have a great day!

I just passed down my bolt action 250 Savage to my son. I would never have if I could find ammo for it. The best rifle I've used, at least for me.

Happy Thanksgiving! Sitting here waiting for the Turkey to hit temp in the smoker while catching the battle of the bottom-feeders on TV. It’s a warm 42 outside. I’m thinking really hard about retiring in a month and doing this patio surfing more often.

    Evening all:

Gun broker has ammunition available for the 250 Savage, not too cheap though as well as most other hard to find ammo.

You will get used to patio surfing real fast Bryan, plenty of other things to do to pass the time, your decision and don't look back!

    Reload Reload.
My dad had a 16 gauge pump but had a unusual length? to it.
    Didn’t shoot it for years.
Some guy with some smarts cut some longer shells and used an old lee loader
To make a few boxes of shells.
He did shoot it a few times after but was never a fav like before.
I’m sure someone someway somehow could get that up and going for you

Now that you mention that Mike!
I just called Bill who used to go to Maine with me, I thought he had mentioned that he had a 16ga that took a different length shell than the standard 2 3/4" of today. He said he has a model 12 that takes 2 9/16" shells, now you know!!!!!
