slight knock or peck on cold morning start up

    2013 2.7 4 cyl. 109K mi. Just noticed since it's been down near the 30"s. slight peck, or nock, Only on completely cold start up, only lasts appx. 1 minute then completely gone. Probably not a problem, I just wish it wasn't doing it.

    Prob from a lack of oil in the top end. Lifters get noisy on cold mornings, cold oil doesnt draw very well.

    Might think of running a slightly thinner synthetic to help with that.

    BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
    I think it’s cold oil trying to get through the VVT screens but I could be wrong. Mine has been doing this on first start up on cold days in the Winter for the 13 years since I bought the truck. I run 0-20 oil

    Take the drive belt off one of these mornings and see if the noise goes away

    I use 0-20 & change it every 5K. I just let Walmart change it & I don't have a preference as to what brand they use, but I'm thinking they use Penzoil.
