    I've seen more regular cab 4X4s in this thread than I have in the last year on the road; they just didn't sell many of them. Same with the 2WD non pre-runner; seems like most of those were bought for delivery services.
    My Tacoma required very little for the first 100k. Then the troubles started and it's needed: new MT, front wheel bearing, rear wheel bearing. I'm leaving out stuff like water pump, pulleys, belts, driveshaft support bearing.... that I consider somewhat normal, especially belts and idler pulleys. But I've never had a vehicle that needed two wheel bearings and a transmission before 130K miles.

    Usually when one wheel bearing goes, the others aren't far behind. It's a moving part that gets put under a lot of stress, especially if you tow or haul. Expect to replace them all by the next service interval.

    I've always found the standard cabs to be the best looking trucks by far, but I agree that they aren't very practical.
