    Hey all,
I'm curious about something, and it may just be a stupid question...but...I have and HID headlight system in my pickup right now, and its time to order new bulbs. The issue I am having is I cannot find bulbs that match what is already in there, I asked the company and they said they are an H1 bulb, I ordered them and they do not match and there is an extra ground looking wire that is not present on my current bulbs. I ordered a different one I think H11 bulbs and they look right, wires match, output matches, there is not an extra ground looking wire, but the bulb itself is shorter than the bulbs currently in my pickup. Long post short....will the shorter bulb effect the output or life of my headlights?

    Thanks
    -Alex.

Are you running stock headlight housings? Pictures would help. Different bulb types are not swappable.

No, not stock housings. It’s an HID kit that a friend built for me a few years back. I’ll upload pictures tomorrow. I’m not trying to swap for a different bulb. Just trying to find the correct bulbs…if that helps

These are the little ground wire things I was talking about.

Probably best to ask that friend where they sourced the parts for the retrofit, then go from there. From your pic of the replacement burner you received, it looks like those wires are meant to be put into a plug to plug into your existing ballast output.

I actually have asked him, he got the kit from the retrofit source. He said the same bulb as the company did, I brought them with me to work today to hopefully take a more in depth look. The last few times I have gone to replace the bulbs it was getting dark and I was in a rush. But it makes more sense now that they might actually go to the ballast. I guess we will see in a few hours. Thanks!

:facepalm:Hey guys. So I feel really stupid at the moment...
after looking at the lights already in my pickup, I saw that my friend that put together the kit for me had clipped off the extra ballast wires and they were like a bypass wire or relay type deal but he wired them differently I guess. With that being said, I had the correct bulb the entire time, and they are now changed. Thanks for the input guys.
