ive been wanting a microsoft surface for quite awhile. got a macbook pro in 2017 that works great. the surface in tablet mode is very appealing. being able to take it camping and watch movies while still having full windows ability would be nice.

my gf has pretty much taken over the mbp so i also want something thats mine again.

anyone have experiece? or recommend the pro 7 over the new pro 8? battery and performance seem better on the 8, but the price is nice on the 7

Woke up early around 5am and drove 1.16 hours to avoid traffic. Had breakfast at Dennys and waited 3 hours for the Tustin store to open. I reserved all my components on their website. there was a line forming all the way up to the store opening. Before all this, I speced an all new system on their website and was satisfied with their prices. before Tax paid for $820 at the store, $250 for a used GTX 1060 and 105$ for a fan controller s and 2TB WD HDD.

It was prob atleast 100ft long waiting outside. Wasn’t too bad though,I still got inside in about 2 min. The checkout line was about 75ft long and moved much slower. I got to skip though because I reserved my parts. This was my first time there, The store felt very spacious and well organized. The build your own section occupied the whole western wall of the store when you walk in, with TVs in the back. It felt very modern like a smaller Best Buy style store. Was very fun, lots of people were in line but for GPUs.

Jay dropped a video a few days before hand showing off their GPU inventory without mentioning they were rationing cards with a lottery system. I feel bad for folks that drove down their thinking it was a free for all first come first served at opening for a card.

The lines used to be nuts as people would camp for days then the line on shipping day would wrap around the block. Tustin store was so bad that there were fights and the police had to sit outside lol

B&H just came through on a notification for a reserved XFX RX 6600 XT Speedster for $660?

Should I pull the trigger or hold off for a better offering? I'm on a bunch of notifications with them

EDIT: looks like newegg has them as well now if anyone is interested. Just don't know if I can justify paying $660 for a $400 msrp card

    Meh, it's a 3060 without DLSS. I'd wait unless you're gaming at 1080P.

Just finished assembling my rig. Still need a graphics card but that will come with time.
    Phantek 360a case
    Asus x570
    Ryzen 5 3600
    16gb T force delta 3200 ram
    Gen 3 m.2 1tb
    Gtx 660
    850w gold power supply.

So far I'm in it for little over $400 thanks to my buddy having the spare cpu and my brother having a spare power supply and the graphics card.
