As many have said, it is a good time to sell to get the most out of your vehicle. New inventory is at all time lows and therefore pushing the used vehicle market higher. This will revert back to normal not long after they get the microchip shortage corrected. If you have another vehicle to drive and can live without your truck for now, you will most likely do better than you would in 6-8 months. Good luck either way!

Great time to sell; IF YOU NEED TO SELL!
But if you're just going to buy something else and pay the temporary inflated price it makes no sense.

I almost sold my Nissan to Vroom, but saw some bad reviews that put me off from the experience. I wound up getting exactly the same amount from my local dealer on trade, so you might just ask your local Toyota folks.

So here’s my game plan. I’m currently driving a 2018 TRD OR 4wd with around 41k miles. I’m planning on selling in the next 12 months or so with the hopes of prices coming down on domestic vehicles (Ram) and the prices staying strong on Tacoma’s (like they’ve always been). I’m in equity now but I definitely need more to make this feasible. Last but not least, you think diesel fuel prices will soon come down?

If selling to sale, yes. If selling to buy, no.

In other words, “it’s cheaper to keep her!”

Rams are not going down in price, they figured out what they have. Those things are really good now.

Is an excellent source to see what vehicles like yours are listed for in your specific area. Keep in mind that's ready for retail sale, not trade. But is helpful for setting a benchmark in your mind before making your initial visit to a dealership, or listing it private sale. The more detailed you are with your features, miles, and distance from your zip code the more detailed the search will be for your vehicle.
Also, keep in mind that if you're trading for a replacement vehicle there's an opportunity for the dealer to show more than its worth (aka you're paying too much for the vehicle you're purchasing) Don't be fooled...your vehicle is NOT worth more if you're buying a new vehicle, it should be worth the same to a dealer if they are buying it from you or taking it in on trade. However, you may be able to negotiate another 500 or so on a second pass before making a purchase.
Just some 2 cents from a 10 year vet as a General Sales Manager at a Dealership.
