Strange 1997 Tacoma 3rz misfire

Hello all, today I got a strange misfire. I started the truck and when idling it was totally fine, then under acceleration it misfire and pops and bangs. I went to the store and bought injector fuel cleaner and the problem went away. Later today it started again but super randomly. I’m thinking fuel filter or injectors.
Any suggestions? Thanks

 

I used to have a cylinder #1 misfire. It would show up at acceleration from a stop and 40+ MPH. I replaced the fuel injector and it went away. Later on I began to get multiple misfires, tore down the motor and found tons of cracks on the cylinder head around the spark plug. Ended up having to replace the head.

 

You could have gotten some fuel with a bunch of water in it. Have you had any heavy rains lately? Gotten fuel from some different station then you normally use?

 

Pull the fuel filter and see if it's clogged, if it is that's likely your problem, if it isn't your next step would be to check if your MAF sensor is dirty, if it's clean you need to check fuel pressure.

 

I’ll pull it when I have some time, MAF is clean so I’ll try and check fuel pressure as well. Thx

 

I have actually gotten some heavy rain over here, same gas station though. I’ll fill up soon and let you know how it goes

Yes I got a random misfire and a 3rd cylinder misfire, I forgot the names of the codes.

 

Hello everyone. I still seem to have the same problem.
It comes back every other month or so and I have no clue what it is lol.
The issue will start when I turn on the truck and it will immediately start idling rough, that’s the oh shit stage when I know it’s gonna drive like shit. After that when I’m driving super slow and super light acceleration it doesn’t accelerate super rough. Once I start to accelerate the misfire feeling starts to happen. The only way I can get it to go away I’m the moment is so put it in neutral and rev it up a couple times. Almost feels like it’s clearing it’s throat.
Things I have tried.
Spark plugs
Leads
Ignition packs
Coolant temp sensor and sender
Cleaned throttle body
Cleaned maf

HAVENT TRIED
fuel filter
TPS
Injectors
Idk what else

and lastly it’s not bad gas

 

A leaking head gasket will kill a couple of cylinders until it they heat up and blow out.....

the leak starts slow and intermittent, occasional and gets worse.....
next stage you have pull a couple plugs and dry em off to get to start.....
hard to restart after sitting 30min or longer.......

Using sealants may ruin radiator and/or heat core......
