What parts to replace for sagging rear bumper?

Hi everyone,

I was rear-ended a couple weeks ago. Caliber Collision replaced the plastic bumper, but it doesn't look like they replaced anything else. The bumper sags about an inch and is noticably not lined up correctly.

I crawled under the truck looking for any signs of damage, but didn't find much. The only thing that stuck out to me were the draw bars looked to be angled down. Not sure if this is due to damage or not, hard to tell without removing parts.

Would frame damage cause a sagging bumper? I ran my hand along the frame and eyeballed it up and down, seems straight.

Doesn't the shop warranty their work? Or did you specify what to fix? Take it back, have them fix it correctly.

 

Could be as simple as they just did not line the bumper up correctly and loosening the connections to the frame,
or could be the this steel "reinforcement" under the step pad,
or could be one of the reinforcement plastic pieces under the facia,
or could be....

 

What exactly prompted you to leave the auto body shop with your truck not fixed?

 

They drove it to me and dropped it off.

I just looked over the estimate and verified they only replace the bumper pad and end caps...

That stinks. Hope you get it squared away.

 

That's likely your problem there. The plastic bits they replaced are just cosmetic. There are two separate metal components that give it its shape and strength.

I'd avoid that repair facility in the future.

Is it the bumper or the end caps which a lot of taco owners have noticed from one side or the other with a difference of 1-1/2 inches.The gap is noticeable under the back corners under the reverse lights.
