    Howdy Folks,

Just got my dream first gen Tacoma and am itching to take it out on some trails and do some light camping. With that being said I am a complete 4x4 novice but still want to experience something local. I am located in the East Bay and would love you recommendation on where you would take your truck on the first jaunt?

Very cool! I just got a 2nd gen recently and am looking for suggestions, too. (I'm in SF.) Prewitt Ridge is at the top of my list.

It's down in Big Sur; I know access was impacted by the recent fires. I think some of it opened up again recently, though!

If you're new to off-roading having an app like Onx Off-road is worth the $20/year or whatever it costs. You'll be able to see all the trails near you and you can download maps for offline use so that it still works when you don't have cell service. I use it every time I leave the pavement because it's an easy way to find new trails while you're out exploring.

If you guys do go camping down in big sur make sure you respect the strict fire rules. Rangers are patrolling the free camp sites and checking up on people (Happened the last two separate times i camped there, once at night). It's a nasty fine not to mention pretty stupid to take a chance on burning down such a beautiful place.

Last i checked Fergusson Naciemento rd is closed for good for years (Both sides). But there are other ways up there......
