I have a new very obnoxious sound coming from my truck. It's like a clicking, binding, or rattling noise coming from the rear right corner of the cab or the C pillar.. if that makes sense.

It's near the rear curtain airbag but I don't think it's the airbag unit... It sounds like there's metal clicking or binding behind the trim in like the frame or something It's hard to explain. Any ideas??

The sound is driving me nuts.

not trying to be funny.....it's definitely not the seatbelt smacking around from the windows being cracked?

Lol no. Definitely not the seatbelt.

It's not the seat belt, the seat storage, under the seat, behind the seat. None of that.. I have checked and removed everything. It's something behind the panels inside the truck. In my opinion

Any luck with the noise? I think I am experiencing the same thing and posted the question a few days ago (see link to post here).

I also found another post on the forum that seems to be of the same issue (see link to post here).

This seems to be a recurring issue, but I cannot find any information out there as far as a fix. I took my Tacoma in to the dealer on Friday to have them check it out, but of course they could not replicate it. I asked about the TSB-0013-18 since that seems to be the supposed fix, but they claimed it would cost $2200 in parts and labor (ffff that).

I'm about to just start ripping my truck apart to investigate the issue further. Like you said, this noise is super annoying and can get really loud. I just wish there was a step by step guide or video on how to take apart the trim by the C-pillar safely without tearing things up. I'm also concerned that the area we are talking about is right next to an air bag.

Is it during any specific time during driving? (turning left or right, accelerating, decelerating, forward or reverse, etc.)

Oh no @sparkdud my sound is definitely not that. It's not a winding or whirling or whistling of any kind. At all.

It's more of a clicking (or cracking) noise that only occasionally happens when driving, etc. It's almost like something in the C pillar or roof lining is binding and when I hit bumps or there's vibrations from braking it clicks and binds. If that makes sense.

See my reply above. It can happen at any time but usually while hitting speed bumps or decelerating and hitting the brake... there's some sort of vibration in the body that is causing something up there to bind against itself or click or creak.

I'll try getting a video of the noise. It's almost certainly coming from the top back right side of the truck in the very back corner of the cab in the roof lining or something. Idk but it's freaking driving me nuts.

Check the integrity of your rear most cab mount.

Created an account to ask if you ever figured this out? I have the exact same issue based on how you describe it.

Happens hitting little bumps and is coming from the exact place, by the curtain airbag in the ceiling on the passenger side. A tapping/clicking/cracking kind of noise.

Brought it into a body shop and they asked if there was a speaker up there, they thought it might be a crackling speaker lol.

    Any luck finding/resolving it?
