    Since it has been slow....
    Gonna ask a question....

First, anyone here mess with old yard equipment?
I have some old Ariens TracTeam equipment looking for a home. Tractor, mower, and snowblower.

And second, if there are any HVAC people in here, that own their own business, or do sidewalk, I have some materials that I will pass on cheap.

Need to make some room, and figured I'd offer here first.

    Anyway...
While my van is down, I've been in a rental for a couple weeks..
Ram classic... damn, if I didn't have truck issues with FCA vehicles.... this would be a serious contender...
Everytime I start to like it, I remind myself of the issues the Charger had... and cure myself...

They only look at like the first 6 months or something like that for these.

Toyota - issues with transmission (we all know it). Ford - people ragging on the 10R80 with the 5.0 and then blaming Ford, mixed with likely there IS some shenanigans with that transmission. Chevy....Chevy, so yeah - within the first 6-12 months, I'm sure the Ram is probably the best in terms of numbers. 10 years down the road is a different story.

Anecdotal, but a guy at work just bought a new Ram and within a few thousand miles it has already developed major electrical issues that left him stranded. A friend had a '19 Silverado that lost an oil cooler line at around 10,000 miles and a coworker is currently fighting with GM about replacing his stained headliner on another '19 Silverado due to a leaking rear window.

Ford definitely has initial quality issues - both of my trucks had some problems from the factory. Last one was an ambient temperature sensor and a tail light filling with water. This one was bad front and rear cameras and a loud cooled seat fan. Fortunately, nothing too major.

Same here I just don't have a big enough driveway to justify a snowblower and it's overkill for a lawn mower too :( I looked at one when we moved in but settled on a push mower and a shovel. I'm riiiiiiiht at the cusp where a push mower could be replaced by something bigger - and I'm (in my lazy mind) well enough past the point where self propelled is needed for the push mower.

I had one of those plug in snow blowers. For the bigger snow it wouldn't be effective enough and for the lighter stuff the shovel would be easier and faster. And we didn't get enough heavy snows for it to be worth a big snow blower. So shovel it is :notsure: especially if we're looking to move in the not too distant future to the south, not worth it for a snow machine.

Same. Grandfather had a set growing up. Thing ran forever.
This needs some tinkering...and some work. Just don't have the time, or the space, to get it where it should be.

I hear ya. On all of it...
Back south is ALWAYS gonna an option... until I find the right opportunity...
I have a 26hp for mowing, and some big tracked snowblower for the cold work. Need one for the tractor(not a real one).... but, big investment for what could be my last winter here... hell, heading home in a couple weeks as it is...

@GarlicFarts you can never have too small a driveway for a snowblower. You don't need a massive one, even a smaller one will blow one of those plug in nonsense ones out of the water.

Oh I know. But just using that little thing - it was enough to learn that a snow blower is overkill. No need for it for mine. The one or two times I could use it, I'll just shovel out the wife's car and yee haw the truck out over the plow scraps.

 it's for cheap bastards who don't want to buy a snow blower two years before moving out.

It's also one less engine. That's a skill I want to get into - small engines, ripping them down and cleaning or maintaining etc and being good at it. There was a class in high school that gave you one and you would completely disassemble and then build it back together. Should have taken that. I took drafting instead - was a cool class and worth it but still.

THEN I'd troll Craigslist and find a 20$ "doesn't run" special. But I can't justify it right now.

Besides more money for more truck stuff instead.

For me it's worth the money even with a small driveway. I'm a one man band with snow clearing, plus my wife's occupation means she might possibly have to get called in to do something other than her usual and if so she gotta go quick

My driveway is only about 16 ft x 70 ft and I keep pondering buying the $1800 snowblower attachment for my garden tractor.

Although, with all the other paths I clear to get out back and to other doors, to where I park the ATV, to the utility trailer so I could use it in the winter if I had to, etc. I am probably clearing close to 5000 sq ft every storm. It'd make ridiculously quick work of it.

I have a plow attachment for the garden tractor (along with rear tire chains and weights), and it pushes +/-8" of snow before it gets over burdened. Luckily I live in a place where I can push it right across the street into the woods, but I do miss the snow blower for the ease of use.

IF I got an ATV for dicking around in the woods I'd get a plow or blower attachment for it. But, that is unlikely to happen.

    A little summin' like this:

    upload_2021-12-2_13-56-31.jpg

    :burnrubber:

BUT - This is my driveway:

    upload_2021-12-2_13-59-4.jpg

I THINK I can handle shoveling that the few times a year I actually need to. Last year was nice - I didn't even shovel at all. I watched the weather, and wife was working from home, and I had the trok. I would see "Oh, it's snowing today but it will be sunny and 50 for the next 3 days....I am not touching that!"

....Also google street view has gotta be about 10 years old, we've been there almost 5 and it wasn't even close to that when we moved in!

Doesn't e-go have a snowblower, could be worth looking into if you don't want another engine. But that shit is expensive. Still, shoveling is for peasants and dumb and time consuming.
