I'm thinking of doing this tire increase...from 265/65R17 to 265/70R17.

I was browsing Toyota site with my my VIN and 16" rims/wheels populate...which brings me to the question, what affect will putting 16" wheels on my Sport have...besides fuel economy?

EDIT: apparently it does fit with different tire size.

    • BOLT CIRCLE / P.C.D.: 6 On 139.7 mm
    • COLOR: Dark Anthracite
    • DIAMETER: 16"
    • FINISH: Painted
    • NUMBER OF SPOKES: 6
    • OFFSET: 25 mm
    • TIRE TYPE: P245/75R16
    • TPMS: With TPMS
    • WHEEL WIDTH: 7"

FWIW. I believe a wheel with following will allow a 265/70R17 tire without rub or hacking the body or lift

    Diameter 17"
    Width 7-7.5"
    Offset +30 mm

My '06 has 265/65R17 on stock wheels. No lift, no rub, no body hack. I'm sure there are other wheel offerings that match the stock wheel dimensions.

    Good luck.

My fuel economy is 19-20 mpg feeding a 4.0L (1GR-FE) with an AT and 4wd.

with a 16" wheel you should be able to fit 275/70R16. If you bring your wheel size down an inch you bring the whole overall diameter of the tire down an inch.
    This might help https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=265-70r17-275-70r16

So a lift kit of say 2" would be sufficient to run the wheel and tire i want to without issues?

ive been on this set up for about 8 months now, first thing i did when i bought the truck. removing the mud flaps got rid of most of the rubbing i had. its manageable without a lift but just leveling the front i bet would fix it. i plan on getting a lift though as i plan on doing some real off-roading.

Yes to Off-roading, don't want to be labeled a pavement princess and never go off-road
