Help! I just worked out a deal to buy a FWC Project M from someone who had it installed on a 2021 Double Cab Taco with a short bed. He's in Phoenix and would be driving it back east for me to get it installed on my 2007 double cab short bed. The original camper dealer just told me that the Project M camper that we're exchanging won't fit on my 2007. Both the seller and I thought our short beds were 5 foot beds, so now I have a dilemma. Does anyone have experience with fitting a camper on both a 2nd and 3rd gen? Are they really different? Thanks for any expertise and advice anyone can offer.

The beds should both be the same length, 5ft.
However, the bed caps and tailgate / tailgate cap I believe are different between 2nd/3rd gens. This could be an issue for fitment.

Beds are the same length but there is a difference in the height of the bed rails I believe. Best bet is going to be to contact FWC.

According to Lear the 2007 has a 60.3 length bed. The 2021 has a 60.5 bed.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Your beds are the same length but don't sit the same in relation to the cabs. It won't line up with the cab as it should on a 3rd gen.

Ohhhh. Yes, it was Brian from FWC who told me there was a diff, but seller was surprised and measured. I think we're both surprised since they're both short beds and really wanted this sale to work out. Thanks to everyone for getting back to me and so fast.

Yes, 3rd gens are deeper from top of the bed to the rail channel. Not always an issue if something is being moved to a second gen depending on the style of bracket, etc, but it might be.
