    My son gave me a 2003 Tacoma 4WD TRD 4D. It has the loud howling noise referenced in zillions of earlier posts. One such post said the solution to that problem had been found by Toyota engineering. Does anyone know if that solution would apply to my TAC? (Free truck, so I'm more than willing to pay. I just want to get it fixed.)

    Most of the rear end howling threads on here are in reference to 2016+ Tacomas, if the rear end is howling on a 2003 I'd be concerned that rear diff is damaged. Drain the oil and see what it looks like, get some new oil in there
