A quick Google search has this popping up on all the Canadian Yota dealers:
Didn't immediately see the US version, but I'd assume it's the same or similar.

"Replacement parts, installed by a Toyota Authorized Dealer DURING the Basic Vehicle Warranty Period, PARTS and LABOUR are paid for by Toyota for 90 days or the balance of the Basic vehicle warranty period, whichever is greater."

So the Flex Seal® the original dealership brushed around the timing cover didn't last?

VW had a 1 year, 12k mile warranty on all repairs (parts and labor) but we would not provide the same warranty if we used aftermarket parts. It was 1 year parts only warranty.

I bought my truck there and have only had super super shitty experiences everytime I've went and even from the moment I bought my truck, lol. Mark Miller in SLC is the best one to go to.

That is incorrect. Yes it is more difficult getting the "shitty work" corrected at another dealership but that is what factory zone reps are for. The factory rep for the dealership you are now using will come by and evaluate the situation. If the zone rep determines its "shitty work" he will authorize the new dealership to make the repair and Toyota will cover the costs.

If the "shitty work" is egregious enough the zone rep might reach out to the "shitty work" dealership for reimbursement but that is highly unlikely for a timing cover leak.

Exactly. It's like talking to a woman and just skirting around the problem. Pisses me off

About 30 years ago a guy bought a Chevy truck that was an absolute lemon (he was on the news too, papers) but gm refused to help him. The guy kept driving around everywhere (I saw him too) with a big writing on both sides and tailgate saying: I bought this lemon from the Chevy farm...I'm sure that dealership lost a ton of customers . Sometimes you got to mention who they are, the dealership is still around, same name too...so they survived, hopefully the service got better too.

That is one of the reasons that I stopped buying GM trucks back in 1978. Back when warranty was only 1 year and they did play me around whole year till warranty was over. I have been buying Toyotas since and never looked back.
Toyota dealers here in Canada are great never had a problem with any of them. Honest and reliable. No shit.

    That's good news!

I purchased Platinum Extended Warranty for my Tacoma...something like $1900...which was rolled into the loan. I figured since I put $10K down, (Trade-In + Cash) adding it to the loan was a good deal.

Could I ask how long you plan on keeping the Tacoma and how many miles a year it is driven Also I am curious what is the interest rate is on loans these days. It would be interesting to amortize the cost.

The only time I have had a problem in the many Tacoma's that I ever had was a head gasket on a truck that was well out of warranty and I will be dog gone if Toyota was able to repair it at their own cost. I was impressed and relieved :)

I've kept my NEW vehicles [historically] for the long haul.

2003 Honda Pilot purchased in Hawaii 2002--had 215K+ miles before my accident in 2018.
1996 Honda Accord purchased in Abilene, TX and sold in Hawaii (2003) to buy the 2003 Honda Pilot--I don't remember the mileage when sold.
1993 Isuzu Rodeo 5-spd purchased in Abilene, TX and traded-in for the 1996 Honda Accord--wife couldn't drive stick-shift. Probably low miles since I did not keep it that long. (The one new vehicle I didn't keep for long)

As for Loan rates...well, I was able to get less than 2% on my loan...but I have been with USAA (I'm retired military) for over 20 years. I have zero credit card debt and refinanced our mortgage prior to buying my Taco in May of this year.

That is so amazing that loans are below 2% it makes for very inexpensive financing. So I guess that if a vehicle was kept for 10 years and a good portion of that was over 100k miles the 190.00 a year for the extended mileage would be a comfortable option to have for the later years and higher mileage of 10 years/125,000 miles. I totally see it as a good value after looking at the details.

It's all about timing...I presume. The stars aligned and it all started with the Refi/Cash-out Mortgage...plus, deleting credit card debt (and its affects on FICO) made for an awesome pre-approved vehicle loan.

EDIT: When you goto dealership and intend to buy, walk-in with a pre-approved loan and don't let them run a credit check on you/co-signer.

As a matter of fact, if you can lock your credit...do so. I pay to have have my credit monitored so I use the site to lock my account for credit checks.

I can tell you a company i once did warranty work for....if we did shitty repair work, and it had to be corrected by another dealer, or authorized repair company, we were back charged for our claim. My boss would get pretty ugly when this happened.
