That TIG sounds like it is a good deal. Tanks are not cheap.

Made some progress on the AWD conversion and found a M/T FJ case in Natalia for a fair price at Lalo’s auto parts. Went and picked it up this morning. I’m mid swap right now on my v6 so I can test it out while it’s still under warranty. Everything seems to function as the case coming out did, so I’m gonna change the oil and cross my fingers.

Also they didn’t have a shifter on the case when I got there, but they took me out to the donor vehicle and it was still in there so all I need is four bolts and a spring retainer. The new case going in the v6 has 120k on it. I’m gonna leave that one in there since it’s a dog to swap and use the one that came out of it in my 2.7L.

Thanks buddy! and that 2lo module is definitely badass. Being able to have a low range reverse is a game changer! Your post just made me realize that I’ll have a low range unlocked with this setup, which will be awesome. That’s gonna get some regular use for sure in the parking lot lol.

Well a light bulb came on, on my way home today when I started watching my fuel trims when going wot. Up until this point, i couldn’t figure out why when I was continuing to add lots of fuel on my tune, that i continued to have a spot where AFRs would lean out into the 13s right before the transition to open loop.

So I started watching my fuel trims and I think I’ve determined that I’ve been fighting the stock ecu pulling fuel in closed loop. When going wot, short term terms are around -7, which as far as I understand, means the stock ecu is pulling fuel/leaning it out because it is showing a richer AFR than the target 14.7:1.

I started doing some research and found a post by Gadget on the MAPECU3 forum explaining how the AFR adjust module works. Basically a negative value on the AFR adjust table will feed the stock ecu a signal showing that AFR is leaner than it actually is, so you can richen up fueling in closed loop.

This has been the one table I left alone while adjusting the tune just due to the fact that I wasn’t sure how it worked and I didn’t want to screw something up if I could avoid it. So I figured it’d be safer to just add fuel with the 5th but now that I understand how things work, it sounds like the stock ecu is going to be fighting you unless you make some changes to the AFR adjust table.

I’m about to go put another tune on the truck with the AFR adjust table slightly modified to richen things up in closed loop in the 4-10lbs range. Hopefully now I can actually start to make some progress. It’s been a bit of a head scratcher up to this point lol

Here’s the table in question 5350FA37-9E76-42A5-8F14-06FA38278277.jpg

Yup, once you can fool the o2/afr sensor that section gets a lot better. Don't be afraid to get aggressive either. It likes a lot of fuel in that section of the tune. I get mine into the low 11s at spool up.

Awesome, will do thanks for the info! The tune I put on last night definitely helped some, but it still needs more. Looking like I’ll actually get it dialed in now though:thumbsup:

Good mornin, yes sir the truck is actually running better than ever. Got the fueling where it drops into the low 12s in closed loop under low-mid boost in 2nd and 3rd gears going wot. I have also been able to dial back the water methanol so it still starts at the same boost pressure, but the point where it reaches full spray comes on much later. Other than the 11-13 mpgs im getting consistently, i am stoked with how it's running now!

Just need to fine tune it now, and get those MPG's back up. That is a great start though.

I'm not sure i'm the one who should be doing this.. but i may give it a try at some point anyways lol. It's been pretty consistent on that mileage though. I kinda just chocked it up as normal with the 285/75/17s
Good mornin Bill! Happy holidays man :santa:
