Ok so the installation manual is a tad sparse when it comes to clarity for the older Tacomas. I'm looking for some quick clarification if anyone knows, I'm not positive but I'm guessing the OBDI connector and the Blue and Green wire need to be connected? The Blue and Green are from the provided harness that connects to the HU.

The other question I have is, does anyone know what this connector should be connected to? This is the last connector from the stock stereo harness and neither harness that came with the unit have a mate for this to connect to. FYI My rig came with the JBL system.

Yes to the first question for the OBDII connector……your second question I’m not sure as I don’t have that connector. You may need to email a pic of that to Eric at Aucarauto and see what he says.

I have 2 connectors left over that do not tie into the new head unit. All works just fine without them. It’s a 2012 non-jbl originally.

On that second pic in the directions that Aucarauto sent it shows that plug but doesn’t show it being used. I think I would plug everything else in and give it a try that one may not be used for whatever reason.

    Thanks guys!

Everything seems to be working! I haven't had a lot of time to really mess with it having to work in between playing around with it. I still need to interface my phone and the HU. The other question is I need a push in the right direction to get my BU cam into the HU. I know this is going to probably cutting in to the existing line. I also an going to hook up the supplied cam for a front view as well.

If your leaving it in the rearview mirror and just tapping into it there is a writeup in here somewhere that somebody did showing just how to do that.

So my 2012 only has a XM antenna in the shark fin. But I wanted to be able to use it as my GPS so I did this….. pulled the fin off. Took the XM antenna out. Busted open the GPS antenna that came with the head unit and used RTV to attach it into the shark fin. Routed the wire to the head unit. And like magic it worked.

XM antenna. You can see there is a provision to mount the stock gps antenna inside the fin.

The Head unit gps antenna rtv’d in place.

I want to add a powered sub to mine now, I seem to recall there being only one RCA out for the sub, does that sound correct?

ya, it always seems HU's either have 1 single rca out for the sub and the amp will have two, or vise versa. I just get a single to dual splitter
