i think it's just shy of $400 for the drop spindles. and you send your stock ones back I believe.

Kind of a dumb question but are there such thing as 1” drop spindles? Looking to get an extra inch drop in the front…

The guy that built mine only makes 2" drop spindles. Whats your current setup up front?

For another inch you can do coilovers up front.

This is coilovers only up front.

I bet that irks her, “I kicked him out of the room, so he went and slept with his truck, like he finally had an excuse.”

These look sweet, I may have to get some on my front end to get that extra drop..

Do they change up the suspension/steering geometry from stock at all, and how is the ride accordingly? Any bump steer?

How would you say it compares to the ball joint flip?

Ball joint flip is horrible. Drop spindles lower you while keeping the geometry as close to stock as possible. They alleviated all negative driving characteristics I had with the balljoint flip.

Awesome, thanks a bunch for confirming my thoughts here.. Also seems it adds drop without impacting suspension travel as a nifty bonus, think I know what is coming up next for Trudy!

Yup it raises the center mounting point of the wheel while retaining the same geometry everywhere else.

I am going to be getting a hold of some drop spindles, and will be dropping the rear more to even out the stance.

Just curious those running a lot of rear drop how much clearance do you have between your axle and bump stops to avoid bottoming out?

Right now my truck has over 4" from axle to bump..

    Sir,
Per the videos you have posted of you on the auto cross course it’s not all that flat. So *I* would keep a minimum of 3” of rear travel. But you’re going to need more or adjustable rear shocks. Because if you hit the hard short bumpstops I think it could really upset the truck. You may want to look at a small frame notch.

I also highly recommend bumpstops like the one in the link. They will help the springs to have a more “Progressive” spring rate. They slide over the shock shaft and are a much softer stop then hard polly bumpstops! It will be trial and error but once dialed in they really do help. Your competition have been using them for years. But something I learned the hard way and after speaking to another gentleman here’s what he told me, now I was like 52 at the time. He said “Young man I’m not going to give you all my secrets but listen closely. As a sky diver once told me it’s not the fall that kills it’s the SUDDEN stop at the bottom! Now think of what I just told you and convert that to the bumpstops in your Miata”.
Like a big percentage of Solo racers he drove Miata too. Before I would use short stiffer bumpstop then I started using longer softer bumpstops and boy what a difference. The car was much more controllable, easier to drive at the limit and the ride was better. I went to softer swaybars. Now the hard part is you don’t want them too long or to short. I went through a few sets before I figured them out. Now you want more confusing info you can also drill out this type of bumpstop to soften them up even more. The Miata is independent suspension and your taco is a live axle but everything should convert.

@Hayrider thank a bunch for the input here, those progressive bump stops and notch sound critical if I do get that low..

Can anyone else chime in and let me know what your axle to bump clearance is, and of course if you ever bottom out this would be good to know!

I feel like I can drop another 2" easy, not sure if I can squeeze 3" more inches of drop in the back.

Take a peek at the bump stop under the curve in the exhaust pipe..

    upload_2022-1-5_19-44-54.jpg

I know this is going to come down to trial and error with my truck the way I drive it, but just curious about others experience to point me in the right direction.

2" clearance anyone?! Good or no good?!

When I bought my truck it had about 1.5-2” of clearance between the axle and frame (2” tapered blocks with 1/2” tall energy suspension bump stops), bottomed out all the time over speed bumps, pot holes, and transition areas on the highway.

I removed the blocks and now I never bottom out, so for my application, 2” of clearance wasn’t enough.
