When you was a kid, did you ever get your mouth washed out with soap?

My parents both work for a maximum security prison, cussing was obligated in our house. Got paddled plenty, belt, scrap wood, shoe.... anything handy in the moment.
The paddlngs stopped after the last 3 times, because I was laughing so hard.

 

Yes, and not the bar soap, either.

Been there! And the soap. Pretty sure it was a bar of ivory. Lol

 

No but was threatened with it many times. Push to shove my mom wasn't the disciplinarian..that was dad. Got my ass whacked by dad several times..had my bike taken away (which hurt the most)..or he'd shut the power off to my room.

 

Got my mouth washed out, got the old army belt, grounding never really worked as I often escaped....

I graduated from soap to willow switches and then finally to my own belt that I was wearing.
Grandmother was much kinder, it was her backhand when you least expected it.

Yes that's why I still don't shower till this day. Can't stand the stuff! Dial Soap can kiss my A@@. And I use to cut my own willow switches. Papa would would say go out there and get bring a willow switch. I would bring it back to him....he would whittle it down and the rest was history.

 

I used to get told, go find another one... the one ain't big enough.

 

I got the soap a couple times at my grandmas house

My parents weren't into violence. My mom came close to spanking me once or twice but never did, Dad never put his hands on any of us. He rarely raised his voice around the house, just him getting angry was enough to get our attention

 

I can still taste the soap to this day.

My mom broke I don't know how many wooden spoons on me as well.

I know for sure I'll never use either on my children.

 

My mom would grind my tooth brush into the bar of soap. So for 2 or 3 days I had the reminder over and over

 

My mom made me eat the neighbor’s goldfish.
