    Sup fellas!

Figured I’d do a build thread now that I’m back in a Tacoma and to keep track of what I’m spending. My 2nd car was a regular cab 4x4 Tacoma and I loved it but ended up selling in 2019 when I had a 100 mile commute daily, and traded for a manual civic (couldnt even drive it home).

Fast forward two years and my civic was able to be traded in for that was more than I paid OTD with 40k miles and my commute was shortened to <20 miles a day, so it was time to get back in a Tacoma. After a bunch of calling around dealerships I got an allocation spot for a manual lunar rock trd off-road (first choice was army green but that was 4+ months out custom order). Put deposit down early November, and picked it up 5 weeks later.

Here she is stock the day I got her

This will be a camping/fishing/traveling build to take me and my gf on any adventure that awaits. One thing you should know is I’m super cheap but I don’t settle for quality. So I won’t be buying basically anything new for it and will put things on as I find great deals. I will let others know what I pay so they can get an idea of what’s it there if you are willing to look.

Some things I will be looking for:

    bed rack
    Roof rack
    Sliders
    RTT
    Seat covers
    Floor mats
    Shift knob

Since I had a month before it actually arrived, I was proactive and checked OfferUp and FB marketplace daily for stuff. Found some CBI bed bars basically new for 180 and figured they would be great for a kayak or RTT

while I was sitting on the CBI bed bars, I found someone super close who was trading their truck in and had a dissent bed and cab rack, and shrockworkz sliders (both amazing condition) for sale. Got him to throw in a gas hole and bed mat for 1300 total. Considering shrockworkz has a 16 week lead time and dissent doesn’t even sell the Tacoma racks anymore I was super happy!

While waiting to get my sliders and roof rack put on (too scared to do it myself and Toyota local to me warranties non-OEM racks so having them do it) I found a hard shell roof top tent for 300.00 with FJ Thule roof rack mounts and bar! Crazy what the price of these are now (over 4,000). I bought it from the original owner and he paid 1399 10 years ago brand new shipped to him!

any ideas how to attach it to my roof rack?

Got two new extra sets of keys cut and programmed and the cab roof rack installed for 345 OTD! Thought it was amazing considering the work they did on the roof rack. Instead of hacking up the weather stripping they cut a tiny piece off the side since the L mounts only really use it. Bill was 260 for the roof rack and 85 for both keys. Highly recommend Deerfield Toyota for any service or install things if you are local to south Florida. Also called me an Uber for work and to come back!
