Haha, I am not one of the crazy ET followers but I do find it funny that we are sending all these famous actors to outer space and we haven't heard back what they've seen. My tax dollars demand answers about what's above the ozone layer we are slowly eroding!

Scientoligists: Earth's been around for a billion years
Also Scientologists: the last 100 year trend shows an increase in earth's temperature which we can directly correlate to carbon monoxide

I love the dart thrown, if they have hit the bullseye, then bravo. As an engineer like myself would say, we need more data. Let's destroy the earth a little more before we prove it's us.

Don't worry, we're beating up the planet pretty well. Lotsa environmental consultants and engineering geologists in the family. There's a reason they're in business.

For emissions 'science,' have you read the latest IPCC report in all of its three thousand (3,000!) pages of gloryhole data that assembles, what, the many tens of thousands of scientists worldwide that contributed directly and through peer reviewed journals and studies and sampling? It's a data freak's dream. Sexy sample below.

Whatever's out there in space, I hope it's weird. I was just talking to a bunch of clients the other day about how much better Sputnik would have looked with a smiley face on it. But 1957 and 'dem superpowers took the whole thing too seriously.

Anyhoo...back to the Rivian, I guess? Or not. These are the kinds of threads I like the most. They're like a real conversation: meandering, funny, sad, long-winded, outcome and conclusion unknown...speaking of Scientologists and 1957, are you familiar with rocket bro John Parson's affair with his wife's sister, who later married L. Ron Hubbord? Fascinating stuff. A fun read on that is located here.

The key to your intense pleasure. DUH!

Thank you, 4k pages, whew! Thank god I work from home. I do appreciate the facts from both sides. Obviously I am talking out my ass (although I am not one to believe the asses of the news), I go by what i feel like what SHOULD happen. I will take a read through. I don't do that type of research for a living but would be interesting to hear, i feel like the consumers see the 10k foot story on the news (which is what I admit I am), so I hope to hear something interesting and different that the average weatherfolk told me in the past. :)

had to drop out due to burning up too much battery when actually driving hard. Rivian also got 100 miles or so when tested in Baja off road . Towing with rivian :

my model 3 will drop its range by over half when I’m not driving like a 90 year old lady .

anyways what range are you seeing with ur EV when you drive aggressively?

Personally, from what I've seen, electronics and vehicles don't mix. Toyota can't even get the 4wd system working correct if a little bit of rain happens, so therefore I don't trust them to control the whole deal. They need to walk before they can crawl. To claim "long term reliability" is a bit of a stretch, I'd like to see them support a product past 5 years and also allow a product to be IP68 rated, let's see an electric vehicle make it past 5 years in the salt belt. Is there a conductivity meter on the frame that detects how much voltage is lost through their grounding system?

    U have solar panels ?
You would probably know how long that takes if you do. My 8kw system on my house is just enough to charge my model 3 30 -50 miles worth of range a day (ave of summer / winter)
For a truck doing truck stuff you will need dedicated panels maybe +10kw (30 panels) and to be hooked up charging to that system for the whole time the sun is up … per day .

maybe you should put ur money where ur mouth is and buy solar and buy an EV. It’s not a bad idea at all (I did it obviously) but it seems ur misunderstanding a lot of the challenges of carrying out this plan. Try it then report back to us . Many pros for sure but u might want to consider the cons , especially for a pick up truck and not a small model 3 or so .

many states look back on the last several months of kWhr of usage to determine panel size, so you'll never "come out ahead", and at best, "barely break even". Your best bet to make money from that is to just divorce from the grid and install your own solar system, you'll never pay an electric bill again. I've worked for the electric company for the last 15 years and have seen the paperwork and process that goes into getting a solar panel tied into the grid if you want to. If you have no electric service, you just stay divorced and have your panels charge your own personal battery/inverter system.

To relate my statement to an EV discussion, you charge your car when the sun is up if you have a solar panel, otherwise park your truck and charge somewhere else. I see tesla stations going up everywhere. For me, I work for an electric company that boasts electric power so we can charge our shit for free at work. I am going to buy a tesla despite the fact I think they are kinda dumb and I don't want one, but my economic brain will over ride it to say that I can charge for free at work, so therefore will never have a gas bill to commute ever again.

Well as far as I know there are eight (or seven, depending on your source) other planets and big ass fusion reactor in the center of them all. Are there other suns in this solar system you're aware of?

I don't doubt that it's not exactly an ideal setup at the moment, but the argument was that it has less range than a combustion vehicle, and that simply isn't true. A combustion engine is out when it's out...it's not going to generate more gas on its own. A solar-powered vehicle would eventually be made drivable again.

And what I mean to say is not that you won't find a place to charge your little RC car or truck, but the company I work for charges per KW/hr and the charges are the same as gas stations where charges per KW/hr and the per generation and distribution cost a certain amount. You'd be a fool to think that just because you're charging your EV means your saving any money or that rate won't change, it just becomes another mean for the government to make money off the taxpayer.

None that I'm aware of, but I was also unaware of many things such as , "planets, diseases, porn stars, debt, deaths, births, etc." until our government has informed me. I would be naïve to assume that I am the only one aware of what's living here on this solar system. We are on a need to know basis, and none of us need to know anything that doesn't benefit the higher ups.

I would like to know what we're planning on doing with all these electric batteries and solar panels that are going to help the environment as well. 5 years into the deal sounds great, but in 10 years when the solar panels become the camden of nebraska, somebody will have to answer.

If you wonder, I have been working in nuclear power for 15+ years, and I don't believe I have any faith in our government or tax payers to make any sense of keeping the electric grid reliable or cost feasible. I produced 1300 MW onto the grid, that's alot of interneting and just being bordism, mostly 3 phase power that went to large factories such as steel mills. That's why I moved from the generation to transmission division, we all know the ignorance of Americans as it comes to electric power. As far as 90% are concerned, it's just magic that comes out of two holes in the wall. You can let me know if you believe otherwise, to be backed up by facts.
