As soon as you depress the brake pedal to put it in gear, the engine dies..at least thats how it works in my 16 Mustang with factory remote start. If you have the remote in your pocket you press the start button on the dash(no brake) and you are good to go.

Every car/truck that I’ve driven with remote start, OEM or aftermarket you’ve had to put your foot on the brake and either turn the key to on, or push the start button before putting it in gear.
Many times I’d come out to a nice warm running vehicle put my foot on the brake and put it in gear only to have the engine shut off.

Maybe you'll take Toyota word for it? Here's the kit to add it...

That's how it should work. I'm coming from a 15 F150 so used to the same setup. Open the door, hit the brake or car leaves park without the key present it dies. If key is present you're good to go.

This is how our 2020 Armada works.

That works fine if the engine does not die when you open the door. But most of us is what happens then you have to start the vehicle up to leave no way around that.

Correct. You start the Armada remotely, then go out and open the door and get in while engine continues to run. If you have the FOB and push the "Start" button the engine remains running when you shift out of Park. Otherwise it dies and must be restarted.

All my Nissan remote starts with intelligent key have never shut off when the door opens and couldn't be driven without the fob present.
