    Hello,

    Sorry for the newbie question but I would appreciate confirmation regarding the GCVRW, GVWR, GAWR, payload and TWR (towing capacity) of our Canadian registered 2012 Tacoma SR5 DC 4WD V6 with towing package.
    My subsequent posts will be the door stickers and owner's manual.

    Is all of the following correct?

    Tow Vehicle

    Model Code: GRN250L-PRADKA
    GCVWR = 11140 lbs
    GVWR = 5489 lbs
    Total GAWR = 5853 lbs
    Payload = 1050 lbs - the weight of our roof rack, tonneau cover, hitch and anything else we load in the vehicle, including ourselves.
    TWR = 6400 lbs

    This is the sticker from our single axle 16’ travel trailer.
    Please note that it has a very short tongue that I’d have to modify in order to install a WDH and that one was not recommended by the RV dealer’s service department that manufactured our tow bar and ball for this setup. We do use a single sway bar.

    I can confirm that you have interpreted correctly. Don't combine the front and rear GAWR, it is misleading. The GAWR is useful for situations like towing a trailer as trailer tongue weight (overhung load) transfers weight from the trucks front axle to the rear axle, so the vehicle can be at GVWR without exceeding rear GAWR.

    Edit: my 1999.5 Jetta TDI has a factory allowable payload over 1,200 lbs.

    Thank you very much. So am I correct that the front axle GAWR is approximately 2744 lbs and the rear axle is 3108 lbs and that I shouldn't and don't need to combine these amounts for any calculation?

    Initially I'd added them together because I was surprised that the combined GAWR exceeded the GVWR. My inexperience lead me to expect that they would match.

    Afterward, I found this article to be helpful, so I think I understand the reasoning now.
