Catback Flowmaster dual exhaust system-Serve duty tow package brake system for front and back-
About me-60 yr. old Marine Veteran who is a plumber and mechanic. I've owned Chevy's all my life starting with a 69 Chevelle SS-68 Nova-73 El Camino-70 GMC Pickup-74 Nova SS. Due to the price of gas here in Calif., which is near $5.00 a gallon, and my aching joints I had to make the pain staking decision to sell my Pickup and Nova and buy something good on gas and low maintenance. A 2006 Tacoma Extend Cab SR5 TRD Off-Road with 4.0 V6 caught my eye on C/L's of all places and after I did some homework on it and making a lower offer, from the 15K the original owner wanted, I bought myself a used Tacoma with over 200K miles on it. I must admit that I was quite nervous about the mileage but the original owner gave me a thick folder of receipts showing service and repairs that were done throughout the years from new. The truck is in excellent condition inside, outside, underneath and under the hood which showed me that the owner took care of it but with that much mileage I know sooner than later something may give out. Since I've owned it I have upgraded the brakes to a Z36 Extreme Truck & Tow Package and installed a Flowmaster catback dual exhaust system. I found a company that has a kit with a Super 44 muffler in it which is two steps lower from Flowmasters most aggressive muffler and it sounds great. The sound is similar to a V6 in the newer Camaro's or Challengers. From a start you can hear it and as the truck changes gears the sound lessens, almost gets quiet, until you step into it. This issue about exhaust drone is simple, if you like a quiet sounding vehicle then leave your exhaust alone. I am having issues with the automatic trans so I will have it diagnosed first. This is my first import vehicle so I'm learning about this Tacoma as I go with my trustee Chilton manual. All in all I am really happy that I bought this Tacoma, the gas mileage is day and night, the interior and it's features make for comfort, with the Snugtop camper shell and 6500 lbs. tow package I can go anywhere and see more of California. Some cool old cars you've had for sure! I like them old Chevy's too. My first 4x4 purchase was a restored but 20 year old at time 1969 3/4 ton chevy with 4spd and 350. Talk about fuel thirsty
