Hi guys heres a install we have been working on its a 2017 Tacoma Double Cab Prerunner. The truck already features our Long Travel front end with all options, now we are adding bumpstops to the front as well as our spring under kit, parts being installed are:

Long Travel Spring Under Kit DK-811848
    Deaver H70HD leaf spring DV-H70HD
    King Bedcage Spec Bypass DK-300828-25KSB
    Prefab Bedcage DK-811828-BK
    Rear Frame Plate Kit DK-811851
    Rear Bumpstop Kit DK-811843

Starting out on the install we begin by removing the rear bumper, bed and all related components, as well as the fuel tank. This will allow us access to the inside of the frame rail all the way up to the cab and allow us to install the rear frame plate kit. Removing the factory spring hangers and shock mounts is done in this step as well, this can be a time consuming portion of the project but allows the new hangers to bolt into the factory locations with no issues

After the frame plating is done we can move into installing the rear bumpstop kit and c notch. This kit locates to the frame using 2 factory holes as well to ensure proper placement.

At this point we can paint the front portion of the frame and install the hangers, this will allow us to fabricate our rear hanger support tubes.

Now we can break the Deaver leaf pack down to a single leaf and install on the truck, once our bed cage is mocked up we can cycle the suspension to full bump with the bump stops installed and set up our shock mounts and bump pads

At this point we set up the limit straps and then paint the axle and final assembly can start, once the leaf pack is put back together we can install it into the truck along with the limit straps and finalize the brake lines and wiring underneath the truck. THe final step is to reinstall the bed, bumper and assemble the bedcage and install the shocks.

Here are a few current pictures I will update with some final pics in the next few days.

Your website says it can be installed on the 6 foot bed trucks as well. My question is does the bed cage sit in the middle of the bed where the wheel wells are or up near the cab on 6 foot bed Tacoma's?

With the additional length of the 5 to 6 food bed being directly behind the cab that will put a area between the front of the bedcage and the bed for additional storage space

What is the reasoning of going with the H70HD vs H70? Noticed the website only has HD option

Ride height and extra weight most guys carry with 2nd gens already being heavier than 1st gens which were the OG truck using these.

Thanks. I’ve been on standard H70 for a while but not getting the uptravel/ride height I’m looking for. I think I’ll switch to HD

@Dalandser is correct, the H70 leaf pack was designed for the pickup/1st gen chassis and on the 2nd/3rd gen the standard H70 has a hard time supporting the weight of the truck even with no additional load. In our testing the H70HD has more ability to support the weight of the 2nd/3rd gen trucks and less fatigue over time. The pack still rides great on the street and does not feel stiff at all. Heres a few pics from shock tuning last weekend

Right on sounds good. The current problem I’m having with the H70 is sagging. When first installed I was sitting at 8” of uptravel and within a year it has sagged down to about 6” uptravel. And with the spare tire in the bed it sags even further

On a 2nd gen Dbl Cab short bed any idea how much one could comfortably carry in the bed? Or what is the capacity of the HD over the non HD?

On the 2nd gen chassis the standard H70 pack with our spring under kit did not have nearly enough height or carrying capacity, with our initial testing and that pack we had about 8.5" of bump travel with out C notch kit, testing with the HD pack increased that to 10-10.5" of bump travel. We have customers with 2 spares, cooler, gear etc on the HD pack and no issues.

I too have an H70 on my 2nd gen. Not happy with it. Is the entire spring pack different or is adding a leaf or swapping out for a heavier leaf an option?

I believe you would want to replace the entire pack. The H70HD defiantly has more arch to it in comparison to the H70
