My grill is still out, in fact I need to smoke some cheeses either tonight if the weather is acceptable, or more likely tomorrow. But typically I don't grill much in the winters.

Anyone else notice that they pre-treated the roads early last night / this morning?

lotta towns saying they’re really struggling to find plow drivers.

I see the lit up signs everywhere 'Plow Drivers Wanted, Sign on Bonus'. Could be an interesting winter...

I saw that they did Westford, Chelmford and up near me in Hooksett NH. Looks like just a dusting in my area though.

They'll just use the national guard like they did for school buses lol. I mean if they provided a truck and I could set the hours to anytime I'm not at work I'd be interested.

likewise. was looking at the different town contracts and they’re offering anywhere from $95-310 an hour, sounds lucrative but never guaranteed and you provide the equipment…. That being said, if anyone is looking for just a driver who’s other full time work shift is 2300-0700 let’s talk. Can sleep when I’m dead.

Anyone have ditch lights installed instead of doing it themselves? I got a quote for $300-400 for the labor to install them which seems like.. a lot of money. I'm not that familiar with the electrical wiring aspect which is what makes me apprehensive to do it myself

When I worked for one of the local Towns, it was a major pain in the ass to both find plow drivers that had adequate equipment (those $310/hour positions require a triaxle and loader for removal), but more importantly could hit the insurance requirements. The local contractor never carried enough insurance to meet the threshold and ended up spending a fortune to get qualified.

thats what I was reading, insurance of at least a mil. Which prices most 6-wheel 350-450 trucks out of a reasonable profit after costs. The contract guy who does my side road off 140 does it in a hooptie early 2000s 250.

DIY is the way to go, I’d find a local member and do a mod day. It’s cheap to wire on your own. Even if you pay a member, I bet they’d do it cheaper than a shop. Personally, I do all my own stunts, I mean wiring.

Hell I'd do it for a 6 pack of PBR!

It's really easy. Don't do what I did, I learned from my mistake with wiring. I wired the light through the mount so in order to actually remove the light now I'd have to pull the end off.

BUT I wired it using H11 instead of the deutsh connectors. Just so that I had freedom to use them in the fog lights etc. Depends what switch you want to do.

Yes - 3-400$ is reasonable for a shop to do, however is VERY easy to do yourself with a 14mm wrench and painters tape.

Where are you located? It's really not that difficult but can be time consuming which is why you got the quote you did. I'm sure, like Pugga said, if you keep an eye open for a mod day you'll find more than enough help to get you through a DIY install at one, just be sure to let the others who will be there know in advance what you are planning, and whether or not you have any tools of your own that you're bringing.

Thanks for the responses guys. My stepdad is gonna give me a hand on christmas. He's rewired his Tundra after a mouse got through it and is a mechanic so I'm sure I'll be in good hands. I'm most concerned about just getting the switch put on the harness to have an OEM style instead of the one that comes with the baja designs harness

Sounds like you're going to be all set. Changing the switch is probably one of the easiest parts of the install, nothing to worry about there.
